NBA scouts dish on college hoopsters ...

Some good reading there. The comments for TT and Ham have me feeling a little better about their chances of returning. Corey is also appraised (although I'm not sure why).

EDIT: Also, I agree 100 percent with the scouts' take on Perry Jones and Jared Sullinger.

Isn't there a kid who played with both TT and Corey Joseph in prep school coming to Texas next year? Hopefully TT will stick around to get one more year of playing with his friends before bolting to the NBA.

Yeah, Myck (pronounced Mike) Kabongo is finishing up his senior year at Findlay Prep and should be on campus next fall. He's a true point guard with a style of play evocative of T.J. Ford: slight (~170 pounds) with a lethal first step and more of a slasher/scorer than a shooter.

I sure hope Hamilon returns next year. One small critique I have of him is that he sometimes has trouble getting open with the ball.
He's great coming off of screens and his defense is tenacious, but another year would be sweet for us and helpful to him.

I know he didn't have space and time to evaluate every player, but I'm surprised Gary Johnson didn't get mentioned, and come to think of it, I really haven't heard his named mentioned a lot for the NBA(granted I don't read everything). I hope he gets a shot, he could be effective in the NBA I think.

I think both TT and Joseph will return.

Hamilton likely will not. I think he bolts if he is projected as a top 20 pick and I think he could go in the top 20.

All this also depends on how we do in the tourney.

Gary's accomplishments at the college level as an undersized power forward with limited athletic ability has been a very pleasant surprise and a testament to his heart and work ethic. His opportunities at the next level however, will most likely be limited to the developmental league, or overseas.

I get that Gary isn't flashy like some and so he's not spoken in the same breadth as others, but whenever I do manage to watch an NBA game, I routinely see guys I have no knowledge of remembering as stars in college. They are the workhorses behind the scenes that fill a particular need for a team. Gary is a reliable rebounder with an amazingly soft touch and consistent mid-range jumper(at least so far this year). I think he could get some real looks. May not be drafted but will be picked up by someone and make a team.

I'm certainly not dissing Johnson and as a matter of fact, he is probably my favorite player on the team.

My point is that while he isn't a stick in the mud by any means, he also isn't terribly quick, nor does he possess exceptional explosiveness and verticality. He makes up for this with his work ethic, unrelenting effort and desire. Those are all admirable attributes, but they won't serve him nearly as well at the next level.

Anyway, like Einstein said - it's all relative.

I personally wasn't really thinking you were down on Barkley; I just felt like pumping him up a bit because when he was good--esp. when on the Sixers--I just thought he was one of the best that ever played. His highlight videos of dunks reminds you that Blake Griffin is not in a class by himself. Okay...derailment over...unless anyone just wants to go on and on about how right I am.

Gary Johnson doesn't have the ups to be a difference making forward in the league. He frequently gets out-rebounded, especially on the defensive side.

Look, I can see how in the first instance, you'd have to read my mind to figure out I was addressing TC. My bad. I'm sorry.

It should have been obvious in the second instance I was referring to TC.

Hey diddle diddle,
the cat and the fiddle,
Gary Johnson jumped over the moon,
The little dog laughed to see such sport,
And the dish ran away with the spoon.
