NBA in Olympics

It's great to see players wanting to represent their countries.

As far as the relative risk of injury, that's the price a team pays for having good players. Getting injured in the Olympics still beats getting stabbed, or shot in a strip club in the off season.

These guys are all playing competitive ball during the summer in gyms, at their schools etc. I would prefer to see them in competitions where they are controlled scrimmages with proper trainers, coaches and doctors immediately available.

read somewhere that the NBA and FIBA are having some back room discussions to make the Olympics and U23 event similar to Soccer at the Olympics.

If David Stern wants a World Cup of Basketball, the Olympics MUST go to under 23 or something similar.

In soccer, the World Cup is King BECAUSE the Olympics has the age limitation. Whats the point of a World Cup if the Olympics is the same exact thing? This is what differentiates soccer from basketball internationally, or at least plays a large role.

Its the same for Tennis. Who cares? You have your four majors already, so it doesnt really matter if these guys all play the Olympics every four years. Olympic tennis means nothing to me. At all. And if they added Golf, it would be the same thing. Dont even bother unless its amateurs.

Having upper age limits in the Olympics just doesn't make sense to me in any circumstance in any sport.
