NB I 35 traffic

Usual and par for the course in Austin now. It happens Southbound too. It just depends but any time of the day or night, weekday or weekend it can bog down. I stay on side streets many times and don't even bother with 35 unless I have to.

I loathe the drive from Austin to Dallas and the other way around. It just sucks.

Even in the past years (beginning late '80s) when 35 was down to one lane, I don't remember it being like today. I'm thinking we're talking scenic 281 this season if 35 traffic is gonna be like this

I suggest it highly. And use the tolls as much as you can if you have the pass or few bucks to save on the hassle.

Sunday's NB from Belton to almost Hillsboro have been a mess for over a year. If you don't leave Austin by 9 add an hour to the trip.

Take 31 from Waco over the Corsicana to I 45 to Dallas. Usually runs much better than 35, and if your wife/SO/otherwise is into clean restrooms, the Collin Street Bakery is in Waco and Corsicana.

Works going north or south.

Thanks for the heads up. NB traffic from Waco was still ridiculous @ 7pm. Where do you exit from 45 NB/SB respectively to get to and from Austin via 31?

Austin traffic has stopped even making sense. On Fridays, rush hour starts early, sure, but jams at 2:30pm heading INTO downtown? Really?

The trend lately in the last year is for Friday to start way early yet end earlier and be easier at 5-6 than the two days prior. It just flows better earlier than other days, usually. Remember, I sit in it all day so I have plenty of time to observe our roadways and your (all of you probably) bad driving.

I remember skipping school in the mid 80s to skate the drag and around town and never having a problem moving around the city or through it. Not unless there was an accident and even then, not the bog down like now. I remember 183 hardly used compared to now.

The only time we had a slow down was when a hottie was scooting down the sidewalk. I guess that means we slowed down a lot.

Every other route mentioned is good if you prefer moving at a semi-decent pace instead of sitting in traffic. However, the amount of time it takes to move at a semi-decent pace to get to Dallas in the backwoods is basically the same amount of time it takes to sit in traffic. I like both the 281 scenic route to Lampasas and 31 from Waco to Corsicana, however, they usually add at least 45 minutes or so to the drive. It's rare that you sit in that much traffic.

Avoid the Hillsboro snag both ways by taking FM 308 in Milford (this doesn't work coming from FW, only on 35E).

Follow 308 southbound all the way to Elm Mott, just north of Waco, then get back on 35.

This also works in reverse (Elm Mott to Milford).

The best route to avoid 35 between Temple and Austin (to me, at least) is to exit the Loop in North Temple and go left, which turns almost immediately southbound through the eastern fringe of Temple, then automatically turns into Texas 95 South.

Once you get to Taylor, get on the Farm-to-Market road that splits off the southern 79 bypass, go through Rice's Crossing, and end up in Manor.

I can't recall the FM number for Taylor-Manor, but you can easily map it using the online mapping service of your choice.

What the hell is NB?

New balance traffic?

Noob Baller traffic?

Newyork Basketball traffic?

I hate when people think everyone knows the acronyms they use.

It stands for New Boobs, when a chick gets a boob job you call it NB and the size they got, really some people just don't get the simplest things.....

I've taken all those routes and I have just decided to wait it out on 35 north or south between DFW and Austin. It simply doesnt matter. The most important thing is to get on the the road early or late. Early is especially important on Sundays after home games.

you guys don't know when to drive. I enjoyed a short two day visit with my parents in Round Rock during spring break. I brought my two sons. We left to come back to McKinney, remember this is 30 miles north of Dallas. We set a personal record. My 2002 Toyota Corolla gets great mileage, so we didn't stop.

We made the trip in 3 hours 7 minutes. When did we leave? Wednesday morning, around 9:00 a.m.

Mapquest says the drive is 217 miles and should take 3 hours and 44 minutes.
