So I have an interview on Thursday for a natural gas trading position..its an entry level position...basically I think they want an analyst they can teach to become a trader in 1-2 years....
I really want this job....Does anyone that has experience in this field have any suggestions for what they will ask or be looking for? I mean what do I need to know going in?
Thanks

I had some experience working with a retail gas marketing company that bought and sold gas on the market to cover their customer contracts. What type of company are you interviewing with?

What they might ask really might depend on the company. Is this position a Risk Analyst type role? I’m a Natural Gas Strategist, looking to get into trading / risk management at some point myself. PM me if you like.

This is for a large oil and gas company..not the big 3 but a large one.....i am not sure what type of analyst it is...basically being labeled as a trader in training

Yea traders can make some big money; this is probably a good gig. Id just make sure that you can express to them that you are good with excel, quantitatively strong, and pay attention to detail. Total?

So how did the interview go? I myself work for an energy company in Houston. I use to trade real-time power, but now moved back to the business analyst side. Trading natural gas is a great gig, and it sounds like an entry level position grooming yourself to be a trader is something I would hop in if I were you. Not many of those types of positions exist anymore. I actually know a handful of nat gas traders at a few companies around Houston. Been in the trading environment since I got out of school back in '02 so PM me if you want to discuss more details.

Chevron? Suez? Total? Cheniere?
