In 2009 class theres a kid named Cierre Wood who is ranked number 3 overall in the class, and he says that if there one school he'd like to hear from it would be Texas!! He lives in Santa Clara California. 10 miles away from Darrell Scott used to live before his mom got offered a job at Colorado! He is really interested in Texas and I sure hope we pay him a visit some time soon!

If he is as good as they say then we should probably make an offer and if he doesn't comit right away then withdraw it. No need to go the Brantly, RP and DS route again when other people want to come here especially a few defensive tackles.

Ya we've been burned by OOS prospects, butI think the problem is that we were relying on those guys (RP, JB, and DS) to be here and not getting them put us in a hole.

This really wouldn't be the case with Wood since we already got Whaley. If we offered Wood and he didn't come, we would already have a stud RB in the class. If he commits, then thats just icing on the cake.

Hopefully Mack has learned not to rely on OOS prospects to fill a position of dire need. Just offer Wood and see what happens.

Before we get all wrapped up in long recruiting journey for another hot-shot OOS RB, does he have any relatives playing D-1 football that we should know about or immediate family members that need a better paying job?

I see RB as a position with which you can get 2 big time prospects in 1 year.

Coaches should talk to him and if he is serious than have him come in for a visit and go from there. It is not a big deal if he comes in for a visit. get a feel for what he is thinking and if he is right for us.

Per Orangebloods (based on a thread title on the pay board since I'm not a member) Texas has made an offer to Trent Richardson out of Pensacola FL. So, it looks like we are already after and out of state running back.

Why should Whaley jump just because we get another recruit? There is such a thin, thin margine with top talent, it is usually just from many peoples perspective on film. Mack wanted Whaley from the get-go, so he seems to KNOW what potential he has. The others, he is just going off film, and word of mouth from other people. I really do not believe he will offer Wood, unless Wood shows some VERY,VERY, serious interest. With the one he wanted Whaley already committed, and an offer for Richardson, I don't see us offering Wood. We still have 2 must DT and a DE we want. We will see what happens.

I agree pevodog. I would rather have the sure Texas player that wants to play for UT and come to Austin. The sure thing is best I feel. After Brantley, RP and DS I feel that way more than ever. Get the ones ready to commit and come here. No need to wait for some to have a big press conferences and choose among caps on national tv.

We've been left at the altar more than Julia Roberts by some of these so-called "national" recruits. We're actually in a good place with running backs this time around, in that we have one of, if not the best one, committed to us. No need to sit around waiting for someone on either coast to decide to jilt us. I say be happy with who we have, and not spend a minute thinking about who we might could have. (...but probably wouldn't get.)

We all ***** about how Mack and the gang don't recruit enough OOS recruits but when we do go after some you ***** about not wanting to go after them because of RP, JB and DS?????? Make up your minds guys. Do you want to go after OOS or not. We are TEXAS but we are not going to get every kid that we go after. RP was just a DOUCHEBAG that we are better off not having. JB de-committed early and DS was hooked by the cheaters at CU. Deal with it, move on, and keep on truckin!!

I've never been one for spending a lot of time recruiting OOS. We have some luck with legacy types, but otherwise, OOS recruiting is pretty much a waste of time for Texas. No need anyway...when Mack's on his game in recruiting, we get pretty much what we need out of Texas. Sorry hook-em...I'm not sure who you mean by someone bitching because we don't recruit OOS enough.
