National Seed Scenario

Let's say we sweep Aggy and KSU sweeps its final two series. If my math is correct they win the conference by a half game, good for them, but do y'all think we'd still be a national seed? Independent of KSU we would finish with 6 straight victories, an RPI in the top 5, and a large venue in UFCUDFF with which to host. KSU would have a conference championship and a sweep in Austin over us, but a smaller venue and a lower RPI (Boyd's World says they have to go 6-0 to finish top 16).

I'm not asking if we would deserve to be a national seed, I think you can make arguments in either direction and the system is far from fair. But do y'all think we would be given a national seed?

It is not out of the question that 2 Big XII teams will get a National Seed...it has happened before (2005).

But if we sweep A&M...no matter what KSU does and no matter who wins the Big 12...we will be a Top 8.

If we even go 2-1 against A&M we should still be in very good shape for a National Seed.

We win the A&M series, and get a win or two in OKC, we will get a Nat'l Seed.

And not to nit-pick, but KSU did not sweep us. Technically.

Currently, KSU has an RPI of 23. If they won all their remaining games, would they have a high enough RPI to be a top 8 national seed, even if they won the Big XII?

Texas has an RPI of 4. I think Texas would have to lose at least two games to aggy and probably lose one of their other games against TSU or alabamy aggy to drop out of the top 8 RPI.

If we go 1-2, I think we could still end up with a seed if we have a good showing in the big 12 tourney.

I might be way off base but I think it is important that we take one of the first 2 games against aggy. Just playing not to get swept looks pretty bad imo even if we win the Sunday game. I absolutely think we will so I'm not that worried about it but just saying...

I think we get 2 of 3 and get the top 8 seed, winning the conference would be great and all but to me the top 8 seed is more important.

IMO having a top 8 seed is more important than being conference champions. However, the Big 12 title takes on added importance this year because it will all but guarantee a national seed.

Coach Garrido talks about winning 5 championships/year. The regular season is the first of five, so let's take the first step to the ultimate goal!
