Napa Valley for a wedding

I'm going to a wedding in Napa Valley in June. I was wondering if I should fly into San Francisco or Sacramento. Also any recommendations on places to stay would be appreciated.

San Jose, Oakland, SFran, find the best rate for the times you fly in. You are looking at about 45-60 extra minutes to Napa from San Jose but many times a lot cheaper on the flight from Austin/Dallas.

Check out Santa Rosa for accomodations that might be more reasonably priced and not too far from Napa.(nice drive in from there) It might depend on where the ceremonies/festivities are and what time they are too.

It is a nice trip. You should have a great time.

What previous poster said on arrival destinations. My sister-in-law got married in Carmel and my wife and I flew in/out of SF. No problems. We took a side trip to Napa and stayed in the Embassy Suites Napa Valley. Great hotel and great location.

br, what area of Napa is the wedding (which town)? Yountville is a good central "home base". The Lavender Inn or Maison Fleurie are both great. Expect accommodations to be fairly expensive.

I would fly into SFO or Oakland. The only advantage of flying to San Jose is that there is a direct flight on American, and as another poster mentioned, you can usually get a lower fare. The drive will be about 90 minutes to the Napa Valley, depending on traffic.

Here's a long-running thread from the travel forum that you may find useful: Napa wineries

Warm sunny days and cool crisp nights in June--aaahhhh.

Have a great time.

Express Jet into Sacramento. Non-stop and should be very competetive price.

Easy drive from Sac to Napa and that airport was easy for car rental (and no bridge traffic).. If price is a real consideration and the wedding is in/near Napa itself, try the Hilton Garden Inn. Otherwise, do some B&B research.

While in Napa, make sure you eat/dine at Mustards. Great restaurant, and you can bring in your own wine from your favorite winery. Try the rabbit, it is fantastic!

The Carneros Inn is a cool place to stay. It has a spa, a pool that overlooks a valley, private villas that have a fireplace, big screen TV, heated floors, alfresco showers, etc. The wife and I went there 2 years ago and had a blast.

My sister got married at V Sattui in St. Helena last summer. I love San Francisco, so I fly in there or Oakland when I can.. and it's a pretty easy drive. Sac just has nothing else to offer.
