our country is quickly moving to a anti-intellectual and brutish place. Both parties are support that mentality, which is unfortunate.

Not to get this thread off topic, but this is my major worry. We're moving into this era right when we need to be at our strongest scientifically and techonologically. We have transferred enough knowledge to India and China that we are going to have to stay sharp in order to continue to compete with them in the marketplace, meanwhile we're doing everything we can to head down the road to mediocrity through lack of education and advancement. It is [censored] scary that so many people seem to be so happy to head that direction.
This is my number one proof that the politicians in power of both parties are either too dumb to be our leaders or too power hungry to be trusted to be our leaders. Whichever one it is, we are facing a crisis and no one in charge seems to even notice.
This is also why those who would put their party above their nation deserve nothing but scorn. This is why those who claim, "they do it too!!!" deserve nothing but scorn.
This is why when our politicians try to get us sidetracked with meaningless issues, we should tell them to shut the [censored] up and pay attention to those things that are important. The fact that we don't tell them this means we deserve nothing but scorn. What makes me sad is that when our country is no longer the economic power that it is today because we no longer have the skillset to continue to innovate, we will only have ourselves to blame. We will deserve what we get. I hope that whenever it happens, all you people who could not look past your partisanship long enough to think about the best interests of the nation will understand that it is your fault that this has happened. I hope the shame you feel lives with you for the rest of your life because of it.
