Myrtle Beach, SC

I'm going to Myrtle Beach, SC and have never been, actually never been to the east coast before period.

I need some suggestions on cool bars/eateries etc. in area.

I'm already going to the House of Blues one night, but now looking for things to do in south Myrtle Beach since I'm staying in the Pawleys Island/Litchfield area.

I've been told to eat at Franks in Pawleys Island and try to hit up Broadway on the Beach, but is there anything else worthy besides the beach, of course?

Thanks in advance!

I spent every summer between 1997-2000 in Garden City (between Pauley's Island and Myrtle Beach). Unless it's changed, there is not a lot of night life in Garden City-Surfside-Pauley's Island. You'll need to go into Myrtle Beach, which is about a 30 minute drive (depending on traffic). Broadway at the Beach has a ton of restaurants, bars, etc. and is a lot of fun.

Go to the strip. There is an amusement park that I used to love going to as a kid. It's been years since I've been there, but there is a great seafood place called John's in Calabash - probably about 20-30 minutes north of Myrtle. I've never liked the mass seafood places you'll find along Hay 17 - too greasy and just not good.

Pawleys Island has great restaurants and it's not "quite" as commercial as Myrtle is, so if you're looking for laid back, that's probably the better place to hang out.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the help. I will be staying a few days, so I think I will have time to hit up most places I want to see.

Is the a particular location the beach is the best? I'm assuming my hotel location has a great beach area, but not sure even where to begin near Myrtle Beach.

I realized too that MB seems to be the mini golf capital of the world...wow.

Yes, there are about 5 million mini-golf places. Those can be a fun 45 minutes or so.

Wherever you eat, get some hushpuppies. They are like dessert there.

And do you like tshirts? There are as many tshirt vendors as there are mini-golf places.

Never been to MB. Where would you guys suggest staying if we were looking for something quiet and remote.
