Myron Hardy Back

I like Myron as much as anyone because I was a freshman at McNeil during his senior year but we do not need a guy like this back. With all the problems of last offseason we don't need to take chances on guy with history like his.

If he's a walk-on, then bless him. If he is using a schollie, I wonder why Texas would reward him.

I think it's a great story when a guy actually does what is asked of him after his indiscretion (to put it lightly) and poor grades. He should be rewarded for changing his behavior and wanting to make something more of his senior year at The University.

Plus, maybe our receivers are good enough that we can move guys to other spots. Monroe is a badass.

I trust in Mack to determine if the kid has made enough amends to be back or not. This is not Pete Carroll looking the other way, this is Mack and I trust his judgment.

Now to the second issue, how good is this kid? First of all, I don't recall anything about him, so he was not a super star. Secondly how good will he be after not being on the team for so long? Hopefully he has some serious talent and has kept in shape, but I was wondering if anyone had anything more than speculation. Again I am sure Mack wouldn't take him back if he had put on 20 lbs of fat, but what are his chances of seeing the field?

Part of the requirements Mack put on him were undoubtedly physical, but you have to admire his willingness to give Myron another chance.

I was a year ahead of Myron in high school and I can tell you he is a tremendous athlete all around, not just in football. He was a great basketball player, but he took off his senior year to focus on football. If he had played his senior year, that team would have had him and AJ Abrams, I'm sure they would have gone far. As far as football though, he used to be great, so I'm hoping he's cleaned up his act and gotten back in shape.

He caught one pass as a true freshman, then redshirted the next year, 2005. He was not in the 2007 media guide, so I don't know what he did in 2006, other than get suspended.

if mack says "ok" then fine..

but in my opinion if you take advantage of what UT gave you in more than one way, you should rehabilitate at another school who finds you just as worthy as Texas did when they originally recruited you.

I recall him looking good in the spring game of 2007.

I have no problem giving a young man another chance if he's made amends.

As others stated, I'll trust Mack on the reinstatement.
But if he only played as a freshman, why is he a senior in eligibility now?

The clock does stop, if you don't play. There was a player for Sul Ross last year, who at 59 years of age, came back to play his senior year. He had not been on the field for thirty-odd years.

Hardy was an '04 recruit, who was dismissed from the team in the spring of '07. This leads me to believe he used up three years of eligibility when he was here. I know he played some in '06...can't remember his first two years.

In Div. I, the clock doesn't stop. You have 5 years to use your 4 years of eligibility. In fact, I think your 5 years starts running when you enroll in school, whether you participate in any sport or not.

You get longer than that if you get injured or if you injure somebody else by bashing their head in while on rage binge.

After all Mack has been through and the way he has tightened things down on who he will recruit as well as give second chances to, I trust him fully on this. The amount of work Myron must have had to do and the things he had to show for it must be pretty significant. This bodes well for him.

I don't see the Hardy and Jones situations being the same. Jones will not be seeing a game in a Longhorn jersey at DKR probably ever.

Good luck, Myron Hardy. Make the best of this second chance and make everybody including yourself and family proud of you.
