Mykele Thompson

Mykele Thompson had a great THSCA All Star game offensively - two touchdowns!. He is a playmaker with the ball. Texas wants to make a safety out of him. I am sure he will do well on defense but don't the Horns need more help offensively?!!! We could use a couple of playmakers on the O.

I have a sneaking suspicion he'll be tried on offense first, especially with Goodwin sitting this year and the WR depth/abilities hovering around a C-.

Kick returns are also a likely candidate where we'll see him.

If anyone saw Thompson play in high school they would have no qualms about putting Thompson on offense. This kid is a playmaker that has some serious ball skills.

I know I'm probably over stating the obvious because of my frustration with the QB situation, but, Thompson may need to get a look at QB if no one else steps up.

I saw him play some QB in the game. As an OU fan I would say he reminds me a lot of John Chiles in HS. He looked much faster than anyone else on the field.

I would crap 20 gold bricks if Mack would let he and Ash rotate at QB.

It's been bantered about this summer that Harsin/White may utilize Mykele in a Wildcat-type package... With his skills, I'm sure that would be sick....

Hate to say it, but that stuff rarely works. The ou defense always seems to know the play called before the snap. I think they spend 12 months preparing for that game...and according to DKR they have a few spies

He and the coaching staff might be wise to look at his future pro career position. That might be where his greatest value lies for the horns.

Hippie is right, but that is a slippery slope - see college basketball and track. Yes college is all about preparing for the rest of life, but when athletes are being given (in whole or part) a free education one would hope that team would be before individual.

Well to run a wildcat you should put the quarterback on the bench. Putting him out at end makes it becomes 10 on 11 or at best having a slow receiver on the field.

I had the opportunity to see Mykkele Thompson play in the UIL Regional Championship against the Harlingen Cardinals. Maybe he had an off night, but I was not impressed with him. It took a 4th and 10 conversion to tie the game in regulation and a missed field goal attempt by Harlingen for SA Stevens to advance.

Like I said, maybe he was off that night, but color me not impressed.

"color me not impressed." ___________________________________________________________ Did you get a chance to see him plat CB or WR? He played QB because him having the ball in his hands gave his team the best chance to win. I'm pretty sure that if I saw Malcolm Brown or Kevin Vacarro play QB in a 5A playoff game, I may not have been all that impressed by their QB talents either...

Actually, Chiles is a good comparison. Both forced to play QB out of necessity. Both have ok speed but look better in the open field than similar-sized players. Hopefully we won't have to experiment with Thompson at QB like we did with Chiles in 2007. I stick by my statements about Chiles being more like Crabtree if he gave up his QB hopes before he stepped on campus.

LIKE I SAID...it was one game, but he did look lost/confused against a Valley team. And no I haven't seen him play CB or WR, so I will suspend judgment on that.

For the Horns' sake, I hope your high hopes on this guy translate into Ws for the Horns. Because if they don't, I guarantee that YOU will be ripping him apart.
