My right foot

I know some of you people are doctors or MA's on here............my right foot almost half way up my shin has gone numb. WTF? I am serious about this. I have been an athlete most of my life and never experienced this. It's scaring me. My players have noticed me limping and are asking questions.

Now that's funny right thar. The sooner is confused as to which foot it even is. Seriously, numbness is caused by either reduced blood or nerve supply. Get it checked out soon.

Go see a back specialist - there's a good chance that you have a nerve in your lower back (probably between L3 and L5) being pinched.

just answer the confused chaps question instead of berating him.

He was confused before he started anyway. What 'sooner' has a 'tiger' in their username anyways?

The right knee. The top of my foot, my big toe, and the outside of my ankle are completely numb. I wear sandals a lot and I cannot keep on sandal on that foot.
I don't know what's wrong and it's going to be three weeks before I can get an appointment to the Ortho doc.
I am walking like Quasimoto. I don't know. I've broken that foot at least once, broken the ankle, had knee surgery, but have never experienced anything like this.

You'll have to see the doctor. He will probably ask if you smoke, have diabetes, are over 40 and will check reflexes, have you do leg raises, and image. He will see if the problem is from nerve compression or from damaged blood vessels or from some other medical condition. Have you had any injuries that could have caused it such as recent knee or lower back injuries? I assume there is no foot drop or color changes to your foot. Any back problems - L4-L5 disk ruptures can pinch L5? Pain in the thigh or buttocks? Any leg swelling?

None that I can see. I have had some back problems before, but usually up towards my neck. No swelling, no color changes...........what is foot drop?

One test that may indicate a bulging/herniated disc is to lie on the back and lift one *fully extended* leg slowly up. If at one point you feel pain, it probably meant that the origin of the pain is in the spine. Probably L5.

Is the toe next to your big toe also numb?

Foot drop is a difficulty in moving the ankle and toes upward. People with the condition might notice a problem with their foot dragging along the ground when they walk.

Yes, I looked it up on WebMD. I think you might have nailed it. We'll let the doc have his say, but from what I read that's about got to be the problem.

TigerPride, if you had a bulging or herniated disc, you would certainly know it. The pain in your back would be radiating even if it were faint. Drop foot could certainly be a side effect of that if it is in fact what is going on. If not, I think it could be circulatory. See a specialist. Stat.

That's what I told the stubborn ******. Go to a Doc like YESTERDAY. Don't wait for the one that put you off, go to another one and use the first one you called as a second opinion if you have to. Do not delay.
