My Recruiting wish list for 2012

Mack has recruited top 5 classes in last 3 years. If he recruited another top 10 class this year, we are prime for another MNC run on next four years.

Here is my wish list for this class:

QB: Connor Brewer - he may be 5* recruit by end of the year.
RB: Jonathan Gray - must - then we will have running back tandem for a long time. He is very complement to Malcolm Brown
WR: Caleb Jones, Thomas Jonhson, Dorial Green - any two will be good.
OL: Curtis Riser, Kennedy Estelle, Michael Starts, Andrus Peat, John Theus and any four of those will be awesome
DL: Javonte Magee, Mario Edwards, Malcom Brown
LB: Tim Cole, Peter Jinkens
DB: Corey Thompson, Kendall Sanders

If we get all of those above, regardless who else we get, we will be a top 5 class and I will be a very happy man.
 
Hate to tell you this, but you might as well have thrown in a winning lottery ticket on that list...we're not gonna be the suck when all is said and done, but I doubt UT has another top five class this year...too much staff turnover and too little time evaluating. The staff's having to do evaluations on the fly this year.

Winning Lottery ticket??? O Ye of little faith... This group of coaches may be behind the 8-ball a little, but they are a great bunch of recruiters...and all they need is to fill the glaring needs at specific positions. I think they will do just fine & will finish in the top 10! Getting Johnathan Gray will go a long way and that very well could happen now...

We have agood shot at Gray, some are even saying he is a silent commit, but...


The chances of getting any of - Brown, Green-Beckham, Peat, Theus, or Edwards is slim.

IMO if we were to get any of those guys it would be a major coup. Hell Tim Cole at this point is a pretty big longshot.

That being said, we still have a good shot at a pretty good class.
 
I say this as a flaming heterosexual . . . the thought of Malcolm Brown and Jonathan Gray in the same backfield gives me wood.

icthorn, if Mack pulls in "all of those" this would be a Top 5 all-time class. I'll be very happy if we can get 9 of those 17.
 
We are getting Gray, he's the closest sure bet that we have offered so far.

Good bets(better than 50/50) on that list are:
Gray
C. Jones
T. Johnson
Riser already committed
Estelle
Starts
Magee
Sanders

Corey Thompson is probably leaning A&M at this point.
 
Everyone here but one feels pretty confident in getting Jonathan Gray. Please tell me something that you know that I don't. I know his dad played for Tech and as we have seen recently, the parents seem to have as much say or influence as their son. I hope everyone is right, but I want some leads on this to feel better we have the inside track at getting him.
 
The absolute worst mistake Texas' coaches can make is to approach the recruiting of this kid as a sure thing.
 
I think the only ones thinking Gray is a sure thing to the Horns are some of the folks that post here and at other sites. I SERIOUSLY doubt the coaches consider Gray a sure thing until he signs on the dotted line. Even if he commits to UT, you can bet he'll be hearing from other coaches, AND our coaches, right up until signing day.

I might be reading more into it than is there, but his comments after making ag's junior day this last weekend are just as good as his comments after visiting UT at our first junior day. For what it's worth, I think he genuinely doesn't know where he's going yet, and isn't in any rush to make a decision. Good for him.
 
I feel very good about our skill positions recruiting. We have a very good chance to land Jonathan Gray. We are in good shape on WR's, even though we may not get Dorial. We are little behind on DB recruiting because of coaching turmoil but we will land atleast two quality DB's when we are done.

If we have 10 win season this year, Mack will bring top 10 recruiting class. And that's I wish for.

Are there any stud Tight Ends out there? I think we may be in the market for one of those. A few other teams have used tight ends to their advantage and I think we should give it a try.
