My Observations From Omaha ...

Well, today is the start of baseball watching for me ... been here since Friday morning, yet to enter the stadium.

What can ya do ? Beer/tailgating have priority.

Tiger fans are here in force, no other teams have really stood out in terms of fans they brought. Even still, the locals have been out, and awesome.

We wanted to go to the LSU game last night, but the number of drunk Cajuns made this a "no-go". Tickets were not cheap.

We were fortunate to get our normal tailgate spot next to "Little Texas", which is currently "Little Baton Rouge". Saw 3 guys fall on their faces yesterday, and the rowdiest LSU fan of the day got so drunk he passed out under a tree and missed the entire game. He was NOT happy about this. Tiga Bait !!!

Weather has been great. Bearable temps, and zero clouds. The Craps tables have been less friendly than normal. But I'll give them another run tonight.

In closing, LSU had us jealous yesterday ... I long for the days of seeing Orange and White dominate the parking lot at Blatt. It had better next year.

Off to watch FSU eliminate Miami ... then I was going to root for UGA tonight, but not after reading that Montag thread about the SEC. Go Cardinal.

since you're not seeing any games , wouldn't it be cheaper to just set upthe lawn chair and cooler in your driveway? at least you could watch it on TV?

I'm amazed at how many people never make it into the game. One couple I regularly tailgate with has been out every day, but has made it into only about half the games and leaves in the seventh inning if they do go in.

Because there was only a single game yesterday, I took my daughter to the zoo. We pulled into the Rosenblatt lot at about 11am and parked near a big group that was already tailgating. After I got back from the zoo, I had a drink with them. They had showed up at 8:30am and none of them had tickets and none of them planned to go to the game.

Drank a lot of beer though.

My final tally for innings in my 5 days ... 2. Went to the first part of the FSU/UM game.

The party outside is just too good to pass up. Can't wait for '09.
