My nephew is getting noticed

My nephew Jacob Bayer II has been named to the Rimington Trophy watch list. He’s the starting center at Arkansas State.

He also was nominated for the Campbell Award, considered the academic Heisman.

He’s pre-season All-SBC, too.

He blew out his ACL in spring ball but will be ready for the season. He also graduated and started grad school.

I expect all you fine, upstanding people to make A State your second favorite team this season!

I remember them as "the Indians" before they went "PC". As I've posted before, my uncle was a policeman in Beaumont and worked a lot of security for events. He had played basketball for Hank Iba at Oklahoma A&M after WWII and loved basketball. Arkansas State was in the same conference with Lamar, and had an AA forward named Zook (Ron IIRC). Guy was about 6'4"/240 and all I could think was, "why isn't this guy playing football". Lamar won that night, but he filled the bucket with not much help from the other 4.
