If you get your pets wooden legs the wear and tear on the wood is more natural. It is none if you put felt scratch or scuff prevent pads (like on a pool cue or under table legs) on their paws/wooden legs.

Or get them sock shoe things that sled dogs use.

He's the best kind going...a mutt we got from the pound. His mom was a Catahoula (sp?), which is a Louisiana herding dog. We're pretty sure he's got some Chow in him becauase of his curled tail, color, and spotted tongue...

Catahoula Leopards are some of the best dogs around. The best working dog we ever had on the ranch when I was growing up was 1/2 Catahoula and 1/2 blue healer. That dog kicked all kinds of ***.

My dad also has a 1/2 kelpie and 1/2 red healer that was an amazing dog. We was 18 when he finally gave out. That is damn old for any dog, much less a working dog who was still giving it his best until the end. (His name was Rehab because my dad bought him as a a benefit auction for a children's rehab hospital in North Texas.)

We also used full red and blue healers, but the best dogs were the once crossed with other herding breeds, like border collies or Aust. shepherds.
