My dream conference - the New Southwest Conference

I hate all these switching of conferences, where it doesn't make any geographical sense. Does nobody care about tradition anymore? Here's what I wish could happen (in summary - dump Iowa St & add TCU, LSU & Arkansas):

SW South Division:
Texas
Texas A&M
Texas Tech
Baylor
TCU
LSU

SW North Division:
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Arkansas
Missouri
Kansas State
Kansas

I'm sure I lost most people with "Texas A&M".

It was fun, but looking around and seeing a half-empty stadium wasn't.

I did too (CA). But, I'm relatively old, and money isn't an issue. That's not the case for most fans...

However, selfishly, I was hoping for a PAC 16, for the potentially fun road trips, to meaningful places.

Slugga, I would have figured you for more of the "old school" type. I'm obviously not suggesting we become the WAC Southwest. Grow up.

With the schools I'm suggesting we add (while also taking 3 teams away from the SEC), would make our conference relevant again. The direction we're headed, our conference is becoming a joke.

Speak for yourself. Your "proposal" was ridiculous & a weak attempt to be humorous.

IMO mine would be desirable to most longhorn fans. You could maintain your traditional rivals, while also keeping your conference in a regional area that is practical for the teams and the fans.

For us to just give up on our conference, & move over & play for the big bully, would be the equivalent of getting your *** kicked by your biggest rival...and instead of standing your ground & trying to get better (fight back), you just go join their team. Why not fight to keep the Big 12/Southwest Conference (whatever you want to call it)!!! Everybody seems to be raiding our conference. Why not go raid theirs!!! What I'm suggesting is no more unrealistic than Nebreska going to the Big 10 or Colorado going to the Pac 12 or Texas A&M going to the SEC. Guess what, it happened!! Fight fire with fire, I say, and cherry pick some of their schools to keep our conference where it belongs...centered in Texas country.

Yeah, if you're a *****, you can sit back & call it day dreaming & say it will never happen. Or, you can get up & do something about it. From what I've seen, the Big 9 has done nothing but roll over in a fetal position & hope somebody claims us. We need to turn this thing around & be the aggressor.
