My Dog Lost Some Teeth ...

I have 2 Boston Terriers ... younger one is a runt, about 4.5 years old. Just noticed yesterday that she lost 2 front teeth on her bottom jaw. Should I be concerned?

She plays rough with the older BT, tug-o-war type stuff, so that may be a likely cause ... I just to be sure that it's not a sign of anything potentially serious.

She doesn't seem to be in pain, is still eating, seems upbeat. Doesn't have bad breath, which I've heard is a sign of dental disease in dogs. Thoughts?

I have 4 Boston Terriers and one of the 4 lost a few of his lower front teeth at roughly the same age. Vet checked out his teeth the next time he was in to see her and said that his other teeth/gums were healthy and he probably just lost them chewing/playing tug (he used to love playing tug). She told us not to worry about it and several years later he is fine and I haven't noticed that he's lost any more. He has some back and neck problems so we quit playing tug with him and he doesn't do it as often with the other dogs these days (he is 9 now) so that has probably helped preserve what he has left but his teeth are healthy and he's doing great.
