Yesterday I was leaving work a friend asked me about the upcoming weather. "I'm not expecting disaster," I said. "DFW TV stations try to make every winter weather forecast scarier than an M. Night Shyamalan movie."

I got up this morning and have attempted no trek further than the newspaper at the end of the sidewalk. They were right this time. It is a weather disaster.

Austin may not be appreciably above freezing until Friday morning, and then we'll have mid-60s by Sunday. Gotta love this time of year in Texas.

Oh yeah, I'm in Austin and just got this status update on a UPS package tracking:

Latest Event: Mesquite TX
Delay in delivery due to weather or natural disaster - Feb 01, 2011 2:51:00 PM

Strange. The weathermen bombed the forecast for southeast Idaho.

Most forecasts called for 1-3 inches of snow overnight. Instead, we got nothing but clear skies.

It was quite obvious that some people on campus did not pay attention to the forecast. That or they did not believe it. They were fun to watch as the day progressed or is it, digressed? I bet they are dressed better tomorrow!

blizzard conditions in chicago for next 24 hours. went out for a walk in it, fun stuff. now to take out my jeep and do some 4 wheeling to back out out of the driveway

This so called worst storm in decades is rolling across the country like something out of "The Day After Tomorrow". Damn this global cooling!
