My angel wears burnt orange

I assist The Associated Press in Dallas, and was assigned some Mavericks games, sitting courtside.

My first was Mavs vs. Pacers last month. Got to see TJ Ford.

Last night was Mavs vs. Bobcats. DJ Augustin is going to be a star.

Saturday night it will be Mavs vs. Thunder. My first look at Kevin Durant as a pro.

3 games in a row; 3 Longhorns in a row. My angel wears burnt orange!!!

How cool it must be to see Horns playing NBA> I watch every game stat to see how they did each time they play. They all seem to be doing well. It must help a lot with recruits.

A bonus the other night at the Mavs-Charlotte game in Dallas was seeing LaSalle Thompson, who is an assistant for Larry Brown. Man, that guy is still HUGE. In college, I was a student manager for the men's basketball team at Southwest Texas and Mike Wacker was one of our graduate assistants (along with current Kentucky coach Billy Gillispie). Anyway, Wacker used to tell stories about LaSalle and how he was the best and most physically punishing rebounder he had ever seen. Of course, Wacker also had great stories about Abe Lemons

Saw Kevin Durant (OKC) last night against the Spurs. He was impressive, even though in a losing cause. His runningmate, Jeff Green, was just as impressive and may be a better all around shooter. If they can get a good big man, and a better point guard, that team will be really good!

KD is best when he's in the flow of the game, and Scott Brooks tends to rotate the guys and play them evenly throughout the game. Green lit up the Mavs, but everyone evaporated late in the game when it looked like no one wanted to take a shot. Typical of a young team. The Mavs put Dirk Nowitzski on KD in the 4th quarter and it slowed up his perimeter game.
