i'm graduating in may, and am leaving austin in july when i start working, and don't feel like i've taken advantage of what austin has to offer. that said, what are the things on your list that i must see/eat/do/experience before i leave?

i have no idea when, if at all, i'll be back in austin (living here, that is), so pretty much all ideas welcome.

having no idea what you like to do and assuming you've done the basics as a student - football games (eyes to eyes), posse east, barton springs, taken advantage of $200 emergency student loan for your road trip to mardi gras...i suggest...

sandy's
butler pitch-n-putt
camel's hole
the poodle dog
maudies queso
deep eddy pool
continental club - wed, 12am, james mcmurtry
acl studio

Broken spoke
Taco shack
Tamale house
Las Manitas
Maudie's

Hamilton pool
Marshall ford (you can't do much more than park your car, jump in the lake and swim, but it's fun; it's probably too cold now)
Hippie Hollow

The Oasis
Carlos and Charlie's

And my local favorite Central Austin locales:

The Parlor ... and
The Draught House

As far as other restaurants go:

There is Curra's on Oltorf (I know the owner, he's cool)

Then there is:
Hula Hut
Guero's
Hyde Park B & G
Mother's
Iron Works (though I prefer Sam's)
Magnolia
Kerbey Lane
Threadgill's
Kyoto
Hoover's
Guero's

Then there is Trulucks and Eddie V but that is usually more than I want to spend.

I've probably said enough. Enjoy.

Oh, and go to SXSW and the kite festival that they hold at Zilker Park. It's fun.

Some people are suggesting some fairly expensive ideas (ughem... Eddie Vs, Fonda, etc). Here are some cheap options off the top of my head.

1. Do the Tower Tour
2. Go swim laps in Barton Springs (assuming it is open) one morning when it is freezing outside.... the water will actually warm you up.
3. Watch a sunset from the Oasis.
4. Hit up SXSW at least for a night. Don't worry about getting a wristband... just go down to 6th/4th street and walk around with some friends. Afterwards, hit up Magnolia Cafe.
5. Play Hancock golf course even if you don't play gold. They will rent you clubs cheap. Bring some friends and a few beers.
6. If you haven't had enough golf & drinking, hit up Peter Pans and do the same.
7. Experience the Green Belt (either on foot or mt bike).
8. Visit Gruene with some friends. Eat at the Gristmill and check out the dance hall.
9. On a nice day, take a scenic drive out in the hill country.
10. Take a date to the capital grounds and just sit around and... um... talk.
11. Get smashed one last time on 6th street.
12. Go bowling at Dart Bowl and eat some enchiladas.
13. Experience the Alamo Drafthouse. Don't go and just watch a movie. Visit when they are doing something uniquely Alamo - mystery sinus theatre, air sex competitiions, sing alongs.... whatever floats your boat.
14. Run around town lake.
15. Read a book for pleasure on the South Mall.
15a. You'll never be around such a high concentration of hotties than at UT, so while 'reading your book', enjoy the scenery.
16. Hula Hut.
17. Go to the SaltLick with a big group of friends.

Tubing is a good idea-- hit New Braunfels in the Spring when it gets a little warmer. Go with a big group of friends.
