Muschamp

Do you think Muschamp is some of the reason we've had sucess with defensive recruiting?

If so, do you think if Muschamp left for another school, we'd have a drop off of defensive recruiting talent.

I think it has definitely made a difference in getting one or two guys a year that would otherwise go somewhere else.

If we have to find a replacement for Muschamp, the recruiting won't go in the toilet, but I think it will suffer a little.

What high schooler wouldn't wanna play for a coach with as much intensity as him? Defense is all about intensity.

Our defensive recruiting and success on the field has everything to do with Muschamp.

Basically, we're winning games these days because of Muschamp.

hmm, lots of trolling going on lately with Muschamp being the topic of discussion since UGA has started off badly. Gee, I wonder why this is?

I wished I hadn't skipped lunch today but I am dreaming about the dinner at the Palm I'll be having later tonight. Should I order the asparagus fritti or creamed spinach as my side???

One big reason is that the kids figure he will be the next coach so they are buying into it for a couple of reasons. One, Mack is the head coach now but the stability is in place that were he to retire, they feel secure. They know going in Will may be their coach. His intensity and everything Mack has and has built weighs heavy in this process.

Will knows this too. As a coach gets closer to retiring kids may balk a little bit, unsure who will take over, how it affects them. Coaches of other schools use this to their advantage putting the bug in their ear that the next coach or system won't be good for them. This is not happening now.

We win games because of Mack Brown's leadership of many great assistant coaches and great players. Muschamp is a great defensive coordinator and our next great Head Coach. The success on the field is due to many people, not just one.

Mushchamp is a great coach and great asset to our recruiting, but he can be replaced. There are dozens of great offensive and defensive coaches out there who can recruit well. As long as TX wins big games the recruiting will happen. I hope Muschamp stays, but if he doesn't does anyone think we will not be able to bring in another great coach?

No coach is irreplaceable. Before Muschamp our D was pretty tough too. Not to mention look at what he's doing at Auburn this year. I really like Muschamp and know the future is great if he stays.

That said, if we have to hire and coordinator at the end of this season, please let it be offense! Don't promote Major either just move him from RB coach to QB coach and let him learn from a great offensive mind (look Pac 10 for OC).

Yup, and then look at what is possibly going down with Cam Newton. Allegations at this time but we'll see.

Defense is way more about smarts than intensity.

I know this is about baseball, but I once listened to Willie Mays speak and he said that when you're getting ready for a play (well, a pitch in baseball), there's a chess game going through your head. In Situation A, I need to move here and get ready to cover this. In Situation B, I need to step back and get ready to do this.

Dumb defenses are the ones that get burned repeatedly. I don't think we're getting "burned," necessarily. The 1997 defense was. I think we just put ourselves in bad situations with offense, and then the defense has to execute right when someone makes a mental error like a personal foul.
