Ahhh man the key to recruiting is you got to get in good with a potential recruits parents. Especially the moms! Florida still got their man unless his mom can change his mind by Monday.

QB prospect Jacoby Brissett headed to Florida

Surely Muschamp learned the importance of keeping mama happy from Mack. Either he wasn't listening or there is more to this story than meets the eye. (It is the SEC v. ACC so money, jobs and cars do enter into the picture until disproved.)

Maybe WM learned some recruiting psychology from Mack.

Sounds like this young lad is a bit full of himself, and maybe WM didn't go slobber on all fours kissing his *** and tugging at his pantlegs.

If he comes to Florida, WM gets him a bit more on HIS and Florida's terms, less on the kid's terms, mentally.

If he goes to Miami, he didn't want to go to Florida anyway and could spell trouble for the next couple of years.

Just a thought.

This stuff is getting out of control, hat changing at press conferences, PRESS CONFERENCES for 18-years kids who haven't proven a THING on the college field.

Again, maybe Mack counseled WM about getting burned a few times, chasing around after 5-stars that are just playing the field for what they can get.

sounds like a mom is offended that muschamp didnt stroke her ego enough.

sure muschamp missed a step by not calling mamma, but this is ultimately the kid's decision.

and it's not as if no one contacted her. she's been in contact with weiss.

this mom sounds like a piece of work.

sounds like WM disrespecting his Mom worked. He is going to Florida.

Mom sounds like a narcissistic *** trying to steal as much of her son's moment in the spotlight as she can.

What can be more worthy of respect than whining in public about somebody not coming to you and showing respect? Such dignity, composure, perspective and gravitas demands respect!

I despise the media circus around recruits that feeds this. I can understand the kids' heads being turned, but shame on a parent who gets caught up in it.

I think you guys are the pieces of work. Mack would never in a day try to get a player without speaking to the parents. That's the whole reason he wants to get the kids on a visit before he offers. He, unlike most of you, understand that these are kids and the parents come with them. I wouldn't want to send my kid off to a school where the coach couldn't pay me an in-home visit. It really doesnt seem like he wants the kid too much. He is still on the fence, you are a new coach coming in, and you are not going to pay his house a visit to get him signed? Maybe you feel that the other 4 star QB you have signed is good enough, and if this kid comes he comes if he doesn't he doesn't. The kid is committing there against his moms wishes. Obviously he really wants to play there so it's not some "Miami holla" type deal. Mack and damn near his whole defensive staff went to see Alexander, and none of you had a problem with it... Why must she be such a bad woman cause she actual wanted to meet and know the character of the man her kid may spend the next 5 years with??

Well im sorry that in no way did you say that Muschamp was wrong for not meeting with the adult in this situation. My bad sir. I apologize for feeling that she does deserve the right to hear from Muschamp himself. I would want to same thing. So call me whatever you feel fella.

I got to tell you, my mom was pissed when no one from the university of texas came to our house to meet with her when i was trying to decide where to go.

That was very disrespectful of them. She went to the press to complain.

No wait... that is not how it happened. this is kind of how it happened...

i remember receiving the acceptance letter in the mail and my mom and dad were very happy for me and proud of me.

Mama sounds like she would respond to the kind of parental recruiting OU practices in east Texas. Too bad for the paper clips that their prime mama recruiter goes after defensive players, not quarterbacks. This one is proof that when mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.

Something the article didn't mention: was it even possible for Muschamp to meet the mom? If Urban Meyer had already had an in-home visit before he resigned, then Muschamp wouldn't be allowed to visit the mom.

I can understand the situation here. The Mom wanting to meet the man who will be guiding her son for the next 4 years is pretty important. And if possible WM should have definitely reached out to her long before then. Yet I also see what type of person she is...wanting her son to snub Florida to go to Miami because she felt disrespected. Really now? You want your son to completely alter the next 4 years of his life and everything that will determine his success as a reaction to feeling disrespected because of never speaking to the HC? Quite a harsh reaction there. And trust me, this kid is far better off in life going to UF than UM. But hey that doesn't matter, she got disrespected by no contact. lol

So, if your son was a major D-1 recruit you wouldn't want to meet the HC face to face? You wouldn't find it disrespectful that one didn't feel the need to meet you? This is the guy that will have the most influence over your son for the next 5 years. I would want to meet him. Not for attention, or to have my ego stroked, but to find out what type of man he is. Is he a good role model, or a snake just trying to win at all costs? Is he going to honor my sons scholarship for all 4 years, or is he going to overrecruit every year and possibly force my son to leave? It is the SEC. Plus, you can just judge a guys character better in a face to face setting. If he wouldn't meet me, I too would find that disrespectful and would tell me all I needed to know about him.

From my understanding she also didn't go to the media. The media asked her about it since she wouldn't sign the LOI. I don't see why she should lie about it.

As a parent of a prospective walkon at a DIII, you should want to meet the coach. And I don't think anyone disagrees with a parent wanting to meet the head guy.

It is debatable whether the head coach will be the person as the main overseer for his tenure on campus. Actually, I would expect that to be the position coach. Several other people may deal with him more over his career.

The article never states Will did not speak with her on the phone. I don't consider having met a telemarketer simply because we talk on the phone. Others brought up the point that perhaps an in home had already occurred prior to Will's arrival. Perhaps someone else did the in-home because Will simply could not make it.

Also, who cares whether the media sought her out. She also said her son disrespected her not just Will. Regardless of her personal feelings, she should have kept it to herself. For her son's sake.

In the end, he gets to attend an institution which many hold in higher regard for academic and atheletic purposes. He gives up South Beach but probably little else.

Will knows better than to intentionally get on the parents bad side. He has only been there a month and a half, had to put together a new staff, and start his recruiting fresh. I would put this more on timing and circumstances than anything else.

And just perhaps she should be more upset that he texted her because he knew she would be disappointed. Would you consider that a sign of a strong relationship?

Djack has it right
"She referred to Miami as "The U." That tells me quite a bit. "

I suspect there is more to this story. I find it hard to believe after working with Mack will would not have met with the woman if he rules wise could.
I do not know the NCAA rules regarding coaches visits when there has been a coaching change.

I had an interesting conversation today with the AD at the Univ. of Louisville. It sure sounded like Charlie Strong was offered the job at Florida before Muschamp. Basically, Strong told the athletic director that he very much appreciated the opportunity he was given by UofL and he was staying to not only honor his commitment but to build UofL into something special.

It wouldn't be a big surprise if Strong and Mississippi State's coach both got feelers before Muschamp did. Both have ties to Meyer at Florida and both have head coaching experience. Not to disrespect Will Muschamp, but it would surprise me if Florida didn't go after someone more established before making the offer to Coach Boom.

i thought it was well publicized that mullen was fla's first choice, but i think miss. state cut that off at the pass by offering an extension quickly.
