Munroe says 2012 Lammert to Texas

From what I have read, in spite of his size, Lammert is more proficient on the perimeter and is relatively fluid taking it to the basket, but doesn't have much of a post game. Sounds like perhaps a Brian Boddicker type four year player.

Good balance to a class that includes center Cameron Ridley and pg Javon Felix.

Welcome to UT, Connor!

I do not know this kid , just hope this is not another big man project like the first Conner we had. Anyone seen this kid play? Any insight to his strong points and his weakness as a player. Can he contribute when he gets here?

He's listed at 6'9", but I don't think he looks that tall.

HaHa, I just made that up!! They're usually not as tall as they say.

Welcome to Austin, Mr. Lammert, and best of luck to you.

If you follow Third Coast's link, be sure to scroll down to the comments and follow the links there to vid of Lammert facing Ridley's team in summer competition. Lammert is not without skills on both ends down low. He is primarily a face up four, but he does have some moves in the post and ability to defend against 4/5s. He definitely needs strength training, but he's still filling out his body and is very young. If he plays any as a freshman, he will be playing as a just turned 18 year old, or 2 years and 3 months younger than Connor Atchley as a redshirt freshman.

I really think this kid is going to be quite a bit better than most people expect.

I hate to dog on Connor, because he seems like a good kid, but I coached against him this Summer at an AAU tourney in Dallas. My team was really small this year, and for our game against Connor we didn't have anyone over 6'3", and he didn't do much against us, inside or out. They beat us, but we were tied at the half, and they didn't pull away until the end, so it wasn't like he was coasting. He definitely improved over the Summer, but I was really surprised when I heard this news--I thought we was better suited to an SMU-type program. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see him being a major contributor in the Big 12.

He's only 17 and still growing. He will be here for 4 years and after Todd Wright get's him into his strength program he'll grow and be special.
