Ms.Schwarzenegger endorses Obama

Her mother, Eunice Mary Kennedy Shriver, was present when Senator Ted Kennedy announced his endorsement of Barack Obama's presidential campaign

Ah, I read that as Mr. Schwarzenegger. Just spent the last 5 minutes looking for the news and wondering how he could endorse McCain and Obama. Still good news.

Does anyone else get the feeling that Obama is now the inevitable one? Everything seems to be lining up for him to come out of Super Tuesday with a lead in votes, states and delegates and roll to the delegation.

Seriously, these endorsements are getting out of control. When do we find out who Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson support?

She's the first lady of the state with the largest population and most delegates. She is also married to an independently minded republican governor supporting Obama's cross-party appeal message. I see this as a significant one.

What Macanudo said.

It positively reeks of egomania--regardless of the endorser. What makes any of these people think that their choice of a candidate would or should somehow influence my own personal experiences and opinions?

Triple, I don't get why the Volcker endorsement wasn't bigger news. When the economic history of the late 20th century comes into clearer focus, I believe that Volcker will be recognized as a figure of equal significance (if not influence) as Greenspan.

The reason that the Schwarzenegger endorsement is important is that it reinforces a central thesis of the Obama campaign that he is more electable than Hillary because he can attract independents and some disgruntled Repubs.

What better evidence to CA voters than the wife of the popular Repub governor publicly endorsing Obama. The endorsement by Ike’s granddaughter, who has been a life-long Republican, has the same effect.

The Kennedy endorsement was important for several reasons. First, he knows and has worked with both Hillary and Barack. When you are looking to hire someone, and have someone who has worked with both of the potential candidates, you would be foolish not to listen to what the person has to say. Of course, you also have to make an independent analysis, and look to see if the endorser has an agenda.

Second, the Kennedy endorsement provided fabulous publicity and his speech answered every one of Clinton’s critiques including explaining why Kennedy believes Obama will be ready on Day 1, why the Obama health care plan has a better chance of being passed, and by suggesting why Latinos should give him a second look because it was Obama and not Hillary that worked with him on the immigration bill.

Carolyn’s endorsement was important for a couple of reasons. One of the themes of the campaign is that Obama can inspire Americans to come together to makes us all better, a theme used by Reagan and Kennedy. There have been plenty of pundits reinforcing the message comparing Obama to Kennedy, but what could be better than his daughter endorsing the comparison for the first time ever.

In addition, voters make their decisions for many reasons. Although it may not change your mind, Carolyn’s story that the excitement of her18 year old daughter made her realize that Obama was different than other politicians will undoubtedly register with some voters. It makes it easier for some older women who believe they should vote for Hillary because she is a woman to listen to their daughters who are likely supporting Obama.

The La Opinion endorsement is important because of the text of the endorsement. In one very prominent location, it explained the work that Obama has done for Latinos, information that many of them probably did not have.

Here's a video of the rally at UCLA today where the Governator's wife makes her surprise appearance and endorsement:

Michelle Obama can really hold a stage in front of a big audience, btw.

.

Michelle is as good or maybe even a better speaker than her husband.

And yes Wahoo, no big deal for the wife of the Repub governor who just endorsed McCain to come out publicly for a Dem.

Happens all the time. Just as grand daughters of Republican Presidents routinely endorse Dems. Happens every day.

Of course, I have never heard of either happening before, but I must have a bad memory.
