Mraz on SNL

Think what you want about Mraz...but I think it is awesome to see some Austin musicians playing on that stage tonight. Especially Bruce Hughes wearing his Resentments shirt...I really hope Bruton saw that!!! I am super proud of Bruce and the Grooveline Horns.

are they always Mraz's backing band?

Bruce just started playing with Mraz like five days ago. Mraz's bassist left in November and Bruce made the band. Carlos Sosa toured with Mraz all last year and was on the album. When the spot came open, Mraz asked Carlos if he had any ideas and immediately thought of Bruce because of his singing ability. What's crazy about Carlos Sosa is that guy typically averages playing and recording on 25 different albums a year. He even did the horn parts of the Dancing With The Stars Video Game. That guy found his niche and is killing it.

I tuned in to see Carlos and Fernie and was pleasantly surprised to see Bruce as well!

As for Carlos, didn't he co-write most of the song's on Mraz's last album?

Yeah he helped cowrite a good amount on that album. I don't know how he does it all and keeps it together. besides all the writing, he's the president of the Texas Grammy Chapter.

It was so very awesome seeing Austin represented on SNL! I saw Mraz in St. Louis back in November, and Bruce was playing with him back then, so it's been a bit longer. Carlos has a ton of projects going on, and tends to rock them all.
