Mowing The Lawn Etiquette

No, not that, racist...

How late should you wait to crank up the lawnmower? Last saturday was forced awake at 8am with a terrible hangover, and wanted to throw a rock at them.

City ordinance(Austin) not before 7:00am and not after 10:00pm. Being neighborly is a totally different thing. I'd say on weekends, hold off until after 9:00am.

Nothing wrong with 8am mowing. I would prefer to stay in bed but if you have a lot of work for the day you might as well get started before it gets to hot. Just cause you are hungover doesn't mean I have to wait to get my chores done.

Early lawn mowing doesn't bother me provided someone isn't mowing within a few feet of my window. My dad used to do that to piss me off on the occasions where he mowed the yard. Otherwise, I don't even notice it.

What does piss me off is construction. They've built a few new homes by me over the past few years and I have wanted to kill every construction worker who has started jack-hammering at 7 AM, and goes till past dark. I used to joke that I never heard it during the semester, but provided there's a lengthy break (spring break, summer, winter) they're out there making as much noise as they can.

I really hate the sound of a jack-hammer. Sorry for the tangent.

Mowing at 8am is common here in Wichita Falls. By noon most days in the summer it's already too hot to start mowing.

I work construction and we start at 7 every day. If you don't like it to damn bad. We have deadlines to make and I sure as hell bet you didn't care when it was your house being built.

Yeah, but we want to know the standards in Hong Kong...

I often get my crews tearing up a roof by 0730 or so, but make sure "hammers down' doesn't happen until 0800 or later.

my neighbor routinely begins well before 8am..he lives for his yard. he has mowed it twice this week..he was weed eating at 630am this morning for whatever reason right next to our bedroom..

I had a neighbor starting mowing at 10:30 AT NIGHT! Dude I know you ride-on mower has headlights but please. Its not like he even had much of anything to mow in his backyard anyway, most all of it was dirt, dirt that was kicked up into a dust cloud to be blown right at my house.

I went outside to yell at him "Do you know how late it is?!" The way in which he replied "beg your pardon" made it clear to me that further attempts at communication would be futile.

I mowed yesterday at noon and woke up my husband.

Of course, he's a newpaperman for a morning daily, so he sleeps until about 2 p.m. It felt good to wake him up.

Yeah, I'm a *****.

I'm not sure how or why anyone would even want to get up at 7-8 on a ******* Saturday to mow

After working hard all week and just wanting to relax - no way in hell I would be getting up on a Sat/Sun to do that ****. Thank God I live in a condo - lol

8:00 am yard mowing is perfectly appropriate, especially in summer.
