Moving to Dallas

I just took a new job in my company that requires me to move to the Dallas area. My sales territory will be North Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. I do not want to buy right away until I get a feel for the area and my new sales territory. I am thinking Addison, Frisco, or Rockwall (by the lake). I am 28 and single.

Thoughts?

Where did you grow up?

Where are you moving from?

Tons of people live in those areas and probably highly recommend them.

I did know grown up in an area, nor do I have the appropriate personality to buy in one of those locations. Within a month or two of moving to to one of those areas, you would probably find my brains splattered on the wall behind where I last stood.

I'm just sayin'. Different strokes for different folks. Give more details about yourself.

PS- Frisco is great if you're already married and want to take a short drive to Pizza Hut Park or the AA baseball field to take in a game with the kids... and you have a strip mall fetish.

Based on 28 and single, your best choice of the three is going to be Addison. Unless you are a boater, I don't if there is anything to do in Rockwall.

I grew up in Crawford except for my time at UT. I am currently living in Waco, so anything will be a step up. I found a sweet deal over by White Rock Lake that I am really interested in.

depends on where you are going to work man. commutes in dallas can be brutal depending on your level of patience. there are plenty of nice suburbs close to where ever you will work. if possible, for a young guy, live in dallas or even (god forbid) addison if it is closer to work.

What about the Villages? They look to be in the right area and the right price. I will be traveling all over the North Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. I have friends that live in Uptown and a few over in Lower Greenville/White Rock Lake area.

The Village is a great location but there are lots of questions as far as noise (it's a lot of SMU students and recent grads) and apartment quality. I haven't been to the newer, more expensive part on the north side of Southwestern Blvd, that might be nicer.

I definitely recommend focusing on the areas where your friends are, SMU/Greenville/White Rock/Knox/Uptown. No need to be in the suburbs or even Addison in your situation.

live in uptown. You will always be going against traffic and are close to Love in case you want to fly the SW up to Okie City and Little Rock.

I am 98% sure I am going to live in Uptown. Any recommendations on which complex to live in? I will be receiving a lot of things from UPS, so it must be UPS friendly. I have a buddy that lives in the Post Properties and I like those. I also have a friend that lives off of Greenville and McComas and like those areas as well.

Post are Great..My GF lives in the Brand New Gables Villa Rosa..on cedar springs and cole. Huge complex with a great pool, and pretty good amenities. Apartments are very nicely finished out with hardwood floors and marble countertops. They have a seperate office that stays late for package pickup by the mailboxes I believe. Quiet, and lots of VERY good looking women there by the way. Good Luck
