Moving Company

We used to have a mover that posted here. I'm going to be needing some moving services pretty soon, and am wondering if he's still around. If not, anyone have any recs for good movers in Austin?

I used Starving Students last time I moved but I'm not even sure if they are still in business, so I'd really appreciate any recommendations.

Tejas moving is good. I used to work with the wife of the owner (now ex-wife). They moved my parents here from outside of Houston and did a great job.

If they are still in town, DON'T use Apple Moving. They messed up a lot of our stuff and refused to recognize their errors. We showed them grass stains, leaves, drag marks, etc and they still would not admit being in the wrong. Anyway, IMHO don't use them.

We used All Texas Moving. They were priced right and 2 friends have used them since and they had nothing but good things to say about them.

I used All Texas Moving, too, and had a very positive experience. The crew (3) showed up on time, moved the stuff quickly, and seemed to know what they were doing. The price was right (and there's a coupon in the phone book, to boot...)
Two of my large items got scratch in the move and they sent someone out to fix them. I was expecting a handyman, but the guy was a real furniture refinisher and did a top notch job.

DO NOT USE CHAPARRAL MOVING.

They quoted half the price of a couple of other local companies I called, but that's because they SUCK!

Another company NOT to use- Jellybean Movers.

They apparently are a group of firefighters in Austin who move folks on their off time. Long story short, the day we were supposed to move they were more than an hour late so I gave them a call. The guy who picks up says they had a "bender" night downtown, were at some random house and were in no shape to do any moving that day. Wow.

So my wife and I ended up moving all of our stuff because we had to be out of our apartment that day. The guys at U-Haul said they had heard similar stories about this moving company.

DO NOT USE THESE GUYS.

The poster was Put Simms In and I used him a couple years ago. He did a fantastic job for a very low price. I tried to use him again last year but wasn't able to reach him.

So instead, I used Longhorn Moving (or Movers, can't remember which). I don't know if they're still around, but if they are, DO NOT USE THEM. They showed up two hours late, loaded my stuff, then took a two hour lunch (which they told me would be 30 mins). They also scratched/damaged multiple items and denied they did it. The owner was one of the movers and he's a complete *******.

I'm moving in a couple of weeks and am using Greater Austin Moving based on tons of postive reviews on Austincitysearch.com. Hopefully I'll have better luck with them.
