Movie you loved but realize now sucked

I think curt Schilling is right - It's Top Gun.

"Sort of like catching 10 minutes of "Top Gun" now, and watching it, and the entire time thinking "At no point in man kinds history could ANYONE EVER consider the acting in the movie to be even REMOTELY worth 2 seconds of my time, or a penny of my money"

But I'll be damned if I didn't hang out with a buttload of people that at one time or another called someone they liked "Goose" or "Maverick", and it was cool.

That's sad in ways I cannot describe.

I was a fan of Waterworld back in the day, but after watching it on cable twice in the last 4 months, I realize it is one of the worst films ever. Same goes for Costner's version of Robin Hood.

Costner's version of Robin Hood was bad but at least they got rid of those stupid tights.

Another one that doesn't hold up for me is Independence Day.

I used to be a huge fan of the Friday 13th movies back in the day, but now I can't stomach those more than a few minutes of them.

I've got two that I really enjoyed growing up but totally suck now. I couldn't turn them off if they came on STARZ though.

1980'sClash of the Titans...I think I only watched to see Harry Hamlin mostly naked...now, it just seems silly and the fx are lame...heard they were remaking it...

I cannot even watch it anymore...looking at Harry Hamlin now...eek! He has had as much plastic surgery as his wife Lisa Rinna...

Big Bend, I was just going to mention BB. I watched that movie countless times as a kid. Now I can only luagh at the parts when they try to pronounce the aliens last names.

"It's John Big Bootay. not Big Booty!".

You could make a list from the movies Master Pancake Theater/Mr. Sinus here in Austin have mocked.

The star in Top Gun performed well. But you just have to realize it wasn't Tom Cruise it was the F14. Top Gun was great for what it was and that was a recruiting showcase.

YoLaDu,

I can watch The Breakfast Club any time, any day. What I can't watch now is St. Elmo's Fire and The Big Chill -- they're both brutal, but they were much loved back in the day!

YoLa,
Breakfast Club?? Damn, I still like that one.
I have a hard time believing anyone ever liked Armaggedon to begin with. That was BRUTAL.

I still like Top Gun well enough.

I nominate Victory.

Hatdaddy, I don't know how many times I've signed in somewhere as John Smallberries or John Yaya. Plus that freaking theme song from BB resonates in my head for days once I get started on it.

I picked up Excalibur in the $5 bin cause I loved it as a kid.
I couldn't get through the first 10 minutes - It was horrible to the point of comedy.

Ghostbusters.

It was really bad after I sold the kids on how funny it would be and I just got the blank stare when it ended.

Not a movie, but a TV show. M*A*S*H.

I caught a couple of episodes a week or so ago and can't believe I ever thought it was all that.
