Moved my computer...different speakers wont work

I moved offices and took my computer. I left the other speakers behind (that were working). the speakers in this office (that were working with the old computer) won't work. i've tried them in the speaker jack and headphone jack..nothing. looked at everything settings-wise that i can think of...nothing. and now the girl that moved into my old office has my speakers hooked up so i can't go jack my **** back.

oh they are plugged in alright...that green light on the speakers is taunting me as we speak.

but now, i dont know what i just did, but more switching plugs, ******* with the volume and control panel and VOILA....we have liftoff!
