Does anyone have a recommendation for a good motorcycle mechanic? My bike has been sitting in the garage for too long, and won't turn over. I'm not mechanically inclined at all, so I need some help

. Thanks!

Sounds like you need a battery charger, but it may help if you give more info.

How long has it been sitting? If more than 5-6 months, carbs may be varnished up. About the only way to cure that is to pull carbs and soak in solvent. Fresh fuel?

Is engine frozen up? Try putting transmission is 4-5 gear and push bike. Does engine turn over?

Once you get battery hot and engine to turn over, pull plug wire and check for spark while you turn engine over.

If you're in Austin, Zabor's is the best place in the city. I think they're located up on north Burnet road, and I always had great experiences with them.

Akak, thanks. I've had a separate reference to Zabor's, so that makes me feel better hearing it from you too. I'm supposed to take the bike over there on monday, provided I can find a trailer.

I dropped off my '96 FZR600 today. Paul said they probably wouldn't get to it this week, but they'll get to it soon enough. I wasn't riding it anyway - a few more days won't hurt. Hopefully, she just needs new gas and a tune-up. I'm having them put on a new front tire to match the back I replaced late last year.

Wish me luck, and a total pricetag under $500.
