Mother's Day Gift

What are you all getting your mothers for Mother's Day? My mom likes to go birding and in the past I've bought bird feeders/baths. I bought her a camel back, which I was very proud of because they do a lot of hiking and birding in south texas but she ended up giving it back to me, I love it.

Ideas?

If she likes birding enough to go on trips there are many field guides and other items she would like. She may have a good field guide or two, but there are others that come in handy-a specialty field guide like Petersons U.S. warblers, or hawks, or a book on shore birds. There are birding site books about Texas she might not have. The best field guide is Sibley's North American bird field guide, but he also has an Eastern and Western U.S. field guide which are smaller and easier to carry in the field, and a "Beginning Birding" book which is actually quite in depth, well worth buying.
There are birding by ear CD's, and now you can put bird songs on I-pods and other devices to carry into the field. Depends how serious she is.
Want to spend a lot-really good binoculars and spotting scopes and carbon fiber tripods are expensive, but desired by serious birders.
Or you could get some flowers and take her out to eat.

accurate, great response! In the past I have bought her a cd with the bird calls to learn by ear, I believe they have most of the guide books you mention and have many binoculars. I'm impressed with your great/accurate ideas, must be the name!

I may go look at a pet store to see what sort of bird feeders they have. In the past I have bought many feeders, ones that are squirrel resistant.

Then there is the birding clothing, like an REI hiking shirt in one of those safari styles, some of the fabrics are mosquito and sun resistant now.
