Most Satisfying Texas/OU Win

Keeping in mind, I am aware that it was great to break the 5 year streak with the 2005 win. I was married once many years ago to an OU fan during the Gardere years. Those were great.

However, from a fun standpoint of basically watching most of the game where the outcome was not in doubt, and the sheer domination and the way Ou basically quit, this was the most fun and satisfied I think I have ever felt watching this game.

Discuss....

This one was so much fun to watch. I remember last year very well but I just had a sense that this year we were going to keep the intensity and cruise to a win — even if it was still close at the end I felt that we just had the better team and would win.

I didn't expect OU to be so thoroughly incompetent. They never really did anything that felt like a true counter punch. Practically nothing worked for them, and in the second half they had no will to fight.

Honestly, I almost felt sorry for them. They won’t win another game this year. Lincoln Riley killed OU. They are about to be Nebraska.
I'll never feel sorry for that POS program and anyone who roots for them. My only disappointment was not cracking the 50 point barrier that we cannot break against them. But, we finally beat the largest margin of victree.

1977. That win was the biggest of my lifetime. Six years without a win vs ou A tie the year before when we had it all sewed up.

It's hard to describe the exhilaration Texas fans had in the cotton bowl when it was over. Never experienced anything like it. Don't expect to either.

Today we beat a struggling team that quit midway thru the 2nd quarter. But it was ou. That made it glorious.

1977, that sent our program to greatness for years to come. We got a lot of recruits after that win we wouldn't have if we'd lost. Hopefully today is a launching pad as well

But it doesn't compare to 77. Ou was ranked in the top 5 after the regular season. This year, ou may wind up in the b12 basement.

I was only vaguely aware of Texas/OU in 1977. For me, this is the most satisfying. And, yes, Texas had great teams after 1977, but if we can parlay this into conference and national championships, this will be the biggest for me.

We chose not to break the 50 point barrier. The last 3 possessions were all run plays from the O.

I just want overbearing media hype and aggy bitching about it. Much more realistic expectations than a winning a natty.

By the start of the third quarter it was apparent that ou had mailed it in - they were simply willing to put their tails between their legs and whimper off the field. Yes, it was fun to totally dominate them - but not satisfying as it would have been if they had put up some fight.

For me it was 1989. (I hope I am remembering this right, I've had a few celebratory beers). We were a double-digit dog to OU that year, nobody thought we had a chance. We got an early lead, only to let it slip away in the 4th quarter. Gardere hit Johnny Walker over the middle for the winning TD right in front of us (we always sit in the endzone it seems). Later we were at Cadillac Bar that evening and they had a Coors-Oklahoma neon sign over the bar. I got all pissed off (drinking a bit btw) thinking CB was disrespecting us and I devised a plan to toss a longneck bottle at that sign and break it. Thankfully my friend Clark talked me out of it so I did not spend the night in the Crossbar Hotel.

Agreed. Why play backups only to hand the ball off?

Hopefully not to resurrect the bo schembechler effect. Had his players wear #50 jerseys the week of the 1969 tOSU game to remind them woody went for 2 to hit 50 the year before.

That stuff doesn't work these days. Did back then and thankfully so. Michigan went on to upset #1 Ohio state. We were ranked #1 after that and beat arky, nd

My prognostication was correctamundo.
(Okay, it was just a guess.)

I'm just saying you give your backups meaningful experience actually running the playbook, not just handoffs. Going for 2 just to surpass a number is douchey, which you cannot spell without ou.

While I love drubbings more than most, the 2022 edition didn't have the "gtfooh" feel as years when OU was actually expected to be halfway decent. It was almost just sad at the end.

2018 and beating Kyler kind of had that "middle finger" feel to it. 1990 when OU was coming off their bowl ban and ranked like Top-5.

I'm still on post game high!

Ewers and team delivered baby!

sooners VANQUISHED!!!
THEY COULD DO NOTHING RIGHT!!

ou fans started leaving in mid 3rd Qtr. heading for the fair midway or going back to their hovel in OK.

Recent ou demons GONE!!!

49 to GOOSE EGG!!

Going to eat Mex food and celebrate with family... later will be watching highlights over and over until after midnight....

Yeah, I can't believe anyone here would feel sorry or almost feel sorry for them. Let them wallow in their misery.

ou tears, heads down, and humbled post game are F delicious to us all.

I remarked to Sabre, ya know an ou beatdown has a side benefit.... ou band only played boomer sooner a few times during the whole game!!!

You two neanderthals were there together? How many blondes hit on him?

Ha! We both behaved for various reasons.....

Interesting day, start to finish... uhh, young eye candy was off the charts!

Utopia was 49-0 *** beating vs. these ou cocksuckers.

Think about it peeps ... our D got a shutout!

ou DID NOT SCORE.

ou DID NOT SCORE.

Let that sink in....

Can't spell *********** douchecanoes without ou.

I liked 2006. Colt’s first year and AD’s last year. Texas put a hurting on them and beat AD to a pulp.

Horns fans at the game were very vocal throughout the game as usual. ou got 2 late delay calls due to crowd noise plus some confusion on other plays.

We both know the reason is to burn clock and not risk an int. Jonathan B made a nice run for a TD even though ou D knew what was coming.

But I agree with you. I would love to see the play book opened at least a few pages.

For me, it was the 1983 Texas-OU game for several reasons:
1) it was the first TX-OU game that I attended
2) Texas was highly ranked that year and so of course the implications of the win were tremendous
3) the Texas defense held Marcus Dupree (OU’s big deal running back) to 50 yards
