Most intense postseason I've ever experienced

I've been following the Horns since 1985. I cannot remember ever going through the roller coaster of emotions that this team faced. The amount of adversity that this team battled through was amazing. It finally became too much in the 6th inning yesterday.

But what a ride. There have been better Longhorn teams, but this one won a place in every fan's heart. Of all the teams that have gone to Omaha and came up short, I think this is the one we will talk about for years and years.

Thanks for the memories, and we look forward to closing the gates of Rosenblatt next year the way it ought to be done - with the Texas Longhorns on top.

For some reason, this was the most intense of any Longhorn athletics I've ever experienced.

I purposely did not watch the early innings of Game 2 until it was 5-1 (heard on the radio while out shopping). Then watched the rest when I came back home.

Last night, at 4-4, I turned off the sound and watched silently as the go-ahead runs were being scored. But turned it off and did not watch past 7-4. Later watched the last inning.

My stomach was in knots all night. I mostly listened on the radio. The telecast was much too painful to endure (nice little joke there on ESPN!!)

In the end, the complete Game 2 by Taylor more or less salvaged the championship run for me. LSU won the rubber game, but Taylor's game might have been more meaningful than even winning two out of three. Did LSU have a pitcher that good? Capable of a complete game in the entire event, much less against the championship matchup? The Horns did.

No player on the teams had been to Omaha. Much of the team is first or second year players. They pushed LSU to a 4-inning game, tied 4-4 after 5 innings in the final game. Just could not hold it together on the mound for those 4 innings and got nothing at the plate.

Getting there was the toughest on my nerves of anytime I can remember, ever. It will take a while for me to sort out how to take advantage of the experience in real life. I'll do my best. Augie would like that.

I am so relieved it is over. Towards the end my nerves were so shot by close game after close game I was practically shaking all day at work before the game.

I am rarely that nervous for performances I actually have to make.

I have to agree I have only been on the edge of my seat once like this before and that was when it was 4th and 5 from the USC 8.

do you think it was because this team may have overachieved, especially how young they are?? only looks good for the future

Yes this team overachieved. A solid squad together, with no real superstars. It was unreal to see the draft stats during each game; to see how many of the oppsing players went in the first 10 rounds, compared to ours. These guys were a TEAM, in every aspect of the word. Thanks for the ride gentlemen! It was great!!

hey one break in first game and Horns are up 1-0. Jungman is unbelievable in second game and Horns win Title - talk about overachievers.
But they did not win first game and got completely out hit in third. I am proud as hell of how they played.
Great season, not to be predicted.
