seems to be just a list of the best programs in the country in order of greatness. in fact, i think we should be number 1. i wish we were. apparently, that means you are kicking *** all over the field.

1) ou (and 2nd is not close)
2) A&M
3) Arky
4) Tech (mostly their fans)
5) Notre Dame
6) Florida
7) Miami
8) LSU
9) Kansas St.
10) ou walk-ons and scout team

That quote about us is very Aggy.

It's the Aggy defense used when their traditions are characterized as: bizarre. They say, "oh they are just jealous and envious of us. They hate us, because they are jealous they cant be like us."

That's crap! They hate you, because your school, alumnus and traditions are ... well.. Aggy.

Other schools don't hate us, because the respect us. They hate us because we are arrogant.

Wasn't it Deloss Dodds that said: "We don't keep up with the Jones', we are the Jones'.

Pretty arrogant, and that is OK with me. But people don't respect us for that. And i am OK with that too.
 
Everyone respects Texas, and the hate does come from envy. As Deloss said, "We are the Joneses." Notice that every team on that list, minus A&M, has a strong program. That's no coincidence. No one hates Baylor, NC State, Kentucky, or Purdue because no one cares about them. Texas is in an elite class.

I hate Baylor more than I hate A&M or OU. Being raised by overzealous Baptist parents will do that to you...
 
There are two types of "hate" in athletics. There's the one for teams like USC, UT & the Yankees, because of their perennial success. Opposing fans get sick of their always winning, and there is also a perception of favoritism (justified or not) because they are the cash cows of their respective leagues.

Then there is the well-earned "hate" based on the unjustified arrogance of their fan base. Most people just find such fans annoying and wish they'd shut up about their perceived elite status. I'd put the Aggies and Dallas Cowboys in this category.

If you think UT is elite; then the Cowboys, for damned sure are as well. America's Team represents the elite of the Country's favorite sport --- football.
 
that quote was pretty stupid. hating anyone because you respect them seems weird to me.

i certainly don't hate texas. just not my style, some of the fans...well.

but i do resent them somewhat because they are the jones. they have to do barely anything to get the best players in one the top 3 areas in for d1 talent. not to mention it is the largest university, with the most money, in the biggest state, in our conference. what is not to hate if you aren't a texas fan.
