Most gratifying B12 championships?

This team has no power, a bunch of young arms, a couple of freshmen up the middle, and a 2nd year catcher. I didn't think we had the offense to win it this year, but we did. We had a few key seniors including a good closer and real good defense to pull it out. This one was a nice surprise. Aggies keep thinking the umps stole it from them.
 
I think the power will surprise people once we get out of the Disch. 20 homers since the end of March with only 7 during the first 6 weeks of the season.

Saw Maroul do that once in Stillwater and again in Omaha. Diving catch to his left, up to his knees and throw out the runner at first.

THe most gratifying to me was 2002 since it had been so long since we'd won it. Also too, I was glad to see us win the tourney at the expense of Nebraska, who'd either swept us or took 2 of 3 going back to 98. Also too we were getting dominated by Baylor so bad it was even funny; they were sweeping us much the same as Nebraska was...

In the end, we beat Nebraska for the Tourney in extra innings and beat Baylor twice to win our regional. As the post season continued we got to beat Stanford twice after they had taken 2 of 3 from us for several years. That year was all about redemption. The rest is history.

I got to see Texas win the NC a season removed from literally crying after Stanford beat us in their regional the year before. I thought I'd never see Texas win a NC ever again in anything. I had only been paying attention since 94', so the pickin's were pretty slim for a while - in all sports.



As far as this year is concerned, I'm really happy to see us struggle so much and still win it. I just don't think there are any truly dominating teams out there, and we just remained consistently good enough to gut out wins after head scratching and heartbreaking series. I mean, come on... 5 loses to Kansas teams by one run each? That could break a team.

Anywho, to be honest, with us still not having any real idea whether or not we make it out of our regional, especially after the last 3 years, I just can't make myself get too excited about our Conference Championship just yet. However, one of the best thing about it though is that it came as such a huge expense to the Whiners. 10 years from now it won't matter how it was won, it will just be another notch in the belt of the country's best program... but to them... they'll still be crying about it.

I think I have to reserve judgment, personally, on how gratifying this CC is until I know we make it to at least a 3rd game in a Super.... just slightly lower expectations than usual, I know.

2004 we were the most dominant team in College Baseball. I mean we blew the doors off of Vandy and everyone we saw in the CWS. Then we get CSF and Romero who had pitched like 500 pitches. We should be given the NC just based on the ethics of pitch count alone.

In 2003, it was Rice, but they were able to finish. 2004, dude.... Your right, that one hurts like a mofo. I'd love to be looking for NC #8 this year!

And while we are at it 1984 vs. Okie Lite and CSF - grrrrr!!!! and in 1985 - Miami - barf.... Dont even mention Wichita State in 1989. Shoo wee! We could have 3 more NC... Damn we were so awesome in the 80's. I guess everything was better in the 80's, including the music.

2002 was the most gratifying Big 12 Championship,tourney,CWS win...these boys had it all together and had fun doing it.....
