So I google searched "Most Embarrassing Presidential Photos" and these came up.

I am guessing these happened before or after the actual time in office but still pretty good.

Some of those are more funny than embarrassing. Years ago there was a great magazine photo set of famous people in unique settings. It might have been the Atlantic. but it has been too long ago for me to remember. Anyway, it had pictures of Saddam Hussein in a bathing suit and Momar Kadaffi sledding and the Soviet leader at the time doing something ridiculous. I wish I could find those photos again. They were excellent.

I'm always on a different page than everyone else, it seems.

The picture in the OP is funny, and is--of all the other pictures posted--the only one that looks artistic and magazine quality. It's just a comical picture, the juxtaposition of the two men's expressions. It's not particularly embarrassing. I'm usually the one holding umbrellas for others, but if I were giving a speech in the rain, I would let someone help me. As for the peculiar Marine rule against umbrellas, well, that just seems obscure.

I guess I am just wondering why any president would hold a press conference in the rain. Not banging on BO, but there should be plenty of room in the WH to keep everyone, including reporters, out of the rain. It would seem more considerate.

Clean deleted his post about the Prez needing the permission of the Commandant. Could it be because of this:

The Marines who held those umbrellas did so with grace even though it is not part of their duties.
I can't believe there weren't any WH Staffers/ interns who couldn't have done it
A parent of a Marine( who is also a marine ) told me they have to pay for those dress blues unis they had on and they are around $500 each and they likely had their unis ruined since they were in the rain while holding the umbrellas.

I hope they got thanked properly by BO. I hope he now knows they aren't in the Marine Corpse.

Those aides helping a 88 y o first lady are not Marines

Yes, Roger35, I did have respect for President Bush. I also voted for him twice because I liked his approach and core beliefs. In retrospect, I think he did make mistakes - but I think we can say that about everyone who has ever occupied the Oval Office.

But I'll repeat my main point - the military salutes the POTUS because he occupies the Constitutionally prescribed office and role. I had very little personal respect for President Clinton, also, but I saluted him because he was the duly-elected POTUS, and thus, by the Constitution, the CinC. Just as I would salute Obama if I were still in uniform - because he is the CinC. I don't like the fact that he is the CinC, but that doesn't matter - he won the job as the Constitution prescribes, and thus the office, if not the individual, is worthy of my respect.
