Mosquito misting systems

We're looking into a mosquito misting system for our back yard. Does anyone have any experience w/ these? ABC pest control's bid is around $2,500, which seems a little steep. Any other vendors you've heard of?

Very nice.

My brother had one installed in his house when he was building it. He liked it so much he decided to start a company that installs them. Its called Mosquito Xscape in Houston. 281-770-8087.

Sounds about right on the price. He put one in my parents house for cost and it was around $2k I think.

Sorry, just saw that you are in Austin. Still may be a good comparison if you're interested.

Have you consdiered the mosquito magnet instead? The misting systems basically spray poison around your house. MM just puts out CO2 and traps the buggers when they go for it. For that $$$ you could get several.

its not really a poison, its a derivative of a the chysanthemum (sp?) plant. The problem with the CO2 systems is that they attract mosquitos, so you end up with more mosquitos around until they are sucked into that thing.

$2,500 is too, too much.

I heard an ad on 610 sports that gave you $500 off if you mentioned that you heard the ad on that station.

I thought if they can deduct $500 then those systems are too damn high.

I'll catch West Nile before I shell out that kind of money.

Thanks for the replies. I have considered the CO2 magnets, but because our our yard configuration, I thought they'd actually add to the problem as others have suggested.

I would imagine Houston would have tons of different providers that would keep costs down, I just haven't seen or heard of many in Austin other than ABC.
