More Hypocrisy from the Left

MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry concluded the “What’s So Funny About 2013?” segment of her Sunday show with a chorus of laughter at the black grandson pictured in former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s family Christmas photo. The chuckles were directed at baby Kieran – who was adopted by Romney’s son Ben and his wife Andelynne in September.

“One of these things is not like the others, one of these things just isn’t the same,” panelist Pia Glenn offered as a caption for the photo, which the Romneys tweeted on Christmas Eve. (Lyrics of the original Sesame Street song are, “One of these things just doesn’t belong.”)

“And that little baby, front and center, would be the one,” Glenn said.

Comedian Dean Obeidallah joked that the baby is a token.

“It really sums up the diversity of the Republican party and the RNC, where they have the whole convention and they find the one black person.”

Conservative blogs on Monday roundly criticized MSNBC and the panelists for the segment. Commentator Caleb Howe wrote tongue-in-cheek on The Right Scoop: “He’s not a child adopted by loving parents prepared to provide him with a better life in keeping with the family’s values. Nope. He’s just a token. A punchline, not a person.”

“It’s funny because Romney is white and his grandson isn’t, which is obviously hilarious. Because as everyone knows, the races should not mix,” Howe added [emphasis original].

Hypocrisy or not? MSNBC is full of bigots.

Msnbc has become a joke. Their complete contempt and disdain toward anyone or anything conservative has become pathetic. Their hatred and intolerance is completely transparent and they've been exposed, time and again. Perfect illustration of the hypocrisy of the left.

As probably the leftmost poster on this thread, I'll say that I smiled when I saw the photo that started all this -- thinking to myself "how neat."

I don't watch much MSNBC, so I can't say the offensive behavior is typical. I've posted here before that I thought MSNBC is as fair and balanced as Fox. Just to be clear, I mean that as an insult.

It's sickening.

It's **** like this that might persuade a white couple not to adopt a black baby because they might be ridiculed for only doing it for the attention. Then couples like that would be lambasted as racist for not adopting the black baby. This really gets old.

The kind of white people who adopt black babies pay no attention to the predjudice of idiots.

I was a foster parent before I had children of my own. The one who stayed the longest was a black toddler, the most delightful human being I've ever know. The thrill of picking him up at nursery school, running to me with his arms outstretched yelling "daddy" was a humbling honor. It was never intended that we should become his adoptive parents, but the day the state determined his mother had got herself together enough for him to come home was the saddest of my lifetime.

An apology has been issued: The Link

It's funny, reading the story how revealing an "apology" can be. The host gave a proper, unqualified, apology. Some of the others just dug the hole deeper. "I'm sorry you are so lax in defending my freedom of speech" is not an apology and is a stupid thing to say.
