It's been a long, hard season for Harden. In April, he was the only Texas starter who seemed to have exhibited the ability to get pitches by major league hitters for season after season. If he could consistently have hitters swing at those pitches ....

He had two or three starts in which he was all but unhittable. But all the rest of the time was pure suckage.

We gave him a chance, which is a hell of a lot more than anyone else would have given him. Maybe it's just that his time is done.

At any rate, I'm glad to see him go, because this team cannot afford to take on these "experiments" anymore -- not if we want to win.

John Daniels is amazing. If you had told me before the season that Harden, Davis, Smoak and Feldman were going to suck like Brahman calves and Holland would be injured or in the minors most of the year I'd have held out little hope for a winning record, much less winning the west and our first two playoff games.
