The language was changed from "global warming" to "climate change" for a very specific reason: so that the religious cult of climate can continue to shriek about how right they are (no matter which way temperatures move), and to beg for more money, and to self-righteously scold (Greta Thunberg ring a bell?) anybody who may express any lack of adherence to their religious precepts.

The big picture problem with all this is that science has become so politicized that much of it has lost its legitimacy.

On a philosophical level this is dangerous. When the scientific method is thrown out due to (real or perceived) lack of legitimacy, alternatives such as experientialism, superstition, tribal preferences, that's-how-we've-always-done-it thinking, and general subjectivity and rank opinions takes control. Kooky far-leftists actually like this, and deem math and science as an imposition by the powerful. Yet, the alternatives will lead to much more randomness, unintended consequences, and unfair and often-bizarre outcomes.

Science must clean itself up and minimize the politicization of science. They're currently losing this battle.
