More bad doping news for cycling

So we have Schumacher and Piepoli testing positive for a new variant of EPO in the Tour de France with retroactive testing on their blood samples. The Tour boss has suggested that there are a few more who may be positive as well. Perhaps given the fact that Schumacher did nothing last year, and this year out time-trialed the world champ and spent several consecutive days on long breakaways in the high alps, this wasn't too surprising (I know I predicted he'd test positive).

If that wasn't bad enough, now the French anti-doping agency is saying that they are on the verge of identifying many riders who apparently have taken transfusions.

Frankly, that was a bit the case this year, with tons of unknown throwing themselves up, and occaisionlly off the road, of the Alps. It was also frankly gratifying to see a long-suffering, presumably clean veteran rider win it.

Unfortunately, this year some of the 'scabs' were doping - most alarmingly a few of them are of the younger generation whom we hoped had cast the old ways behind. Not so, apparently.

Not to derail this back on Armstrong, but my skepticism of his previous wins has already been stated. That said, if he returns and wins clean in this environment - when it really appears the testing is catching up to the dopers - he'll have made a powerful statement. I do wish him well.

"Dalton's not enough."

"I would be real careful. You dig a 6-foot hole, you'll find three bodies, but you dig 12, and maybe you'll find 40."

Gawl Dangit! Yup, this will be intersting to say the least. C'mon you ******* boneheads, stop doping and go on your own merits.

Just keep all cyclists sequestered in a room with cameras 24/7/365. Yeesh.

Bernard Kohl, the polka dot jersey from the Tour - positive for CERA. Disgusting - I really like the story of the chimney sweep's son done good. Not so.

That's Menchov in 3rd now, and Vandevelde in 4th. For now.
