Moon Palace in Cancun

Thinking about taking about a 5 day vacation to Cancun in August and came across the Moon Palace resort. Anyone stayed there and have any reviews?

Is there some reason you want to stay in Cancun as opposed to the rest of the Mayan Riviera?

Stayed there about 6 years ago. Not a big fan. Not near Cancun or Playa del Carmen. The food was below average even for a all -inclusine hotel. I would stay in Cancun or Playa.

It's a yes/no answer. We went there for our honeymoon.

Pros:
-Private beach = less traffic
-Beautiful property
-No kids
-Romantic
-Showers big enough to fit 6 people; jacuzzi in room
-You get a wrist band to shuttle to all the Palace resorts and eat/drink there for free
-All inclusive
-Lot's of Euros come here meaning that the pool provides some scenery. (Boobs!)

Cons:
-It's secluded meaning that it is hard to get back from bars if you go to the downtown area. You will need to take a Mexican taxi down the backroads...at night.
-It's about 35-40 minutes from the airport. Any shuttle you take will drop everyone else off first before you arrive if you don't get a private car. You will also be the first people picked up on your return flight.
-The food isn't stellar and the alcoholic drinks are watered down. You can pretty much order whatever you want but it is definately of the quantity over quality variety.
-Beach curfew of 10 PM. No late night walks with your someone unless you shuttle into town.

It's been 8 years since I have stayed there, but overall I think that it is a good choice. If I was going on a non-romantic encounter, I would grab something closer to the downtown.
