Moon Impact

The Prime Directive only deals with contacting alien civilizations. It does not prohibit crash landing a probe onto an uninhabited world.

(Sheesh!)

really?

It really pisses me off when people who have absolutely ZERO experience and ZERO background in the science/math/physics world start bitching about things they don't even have the slightest chance of comprehending. Oh really, an object with the mass of 3.22 x10^-18 % of the moon is going to knock the moon out of orbit? And I guess all those other meteors that have been hitting the moon for eons just bounce off the moon. And oh no everybody, our futures are all going to change because the astrological charts are going to change because a tiny little piece of mass is going to collide with the moon to see if there's ice/water up there! Shut your mouth you uneducated chicken little and go back to writing stupid *** books that nobody cares about.

It looks like we may have dodged a bullet here. I was worried that an ancient civilization may have left behind a failsafe device that would retaliate against our perceived attack on their homeland. Or maybe the rockets are on their way, and just haven't arrived yet.

If we hit an antbed up there I bet the moon ants have already put it back together. Those little ******* get busy.

Oooooo, the Moon gods are NOT going to like this. I better start building that Space Ark that deep, loud voice keeps telling me to.

Well I read in the paper they didn't see a cloud of ejecta kicked up. Perhaps if their cameras had been tuned into the Parmasan Cheese wavelength instead of the water wavelength...

Is it okay? I peered out my window and it looks like it is only a quarter of the size it was the last time I checked.

excellent thread and i can't tell if Science guy is serious or repsondig to sarcasm with extra saarcasm which either makes him ridiculous or ridiculously awesome.

I'd say I was doing a little bit of both. If you look at the link I posted and scroll down to some of the comments, it seems like people actually believe what she wrote and that is pretty damn sad.
