computer help needed.
I have been having this problem with my monitor going out on me lately. Sometimes while I am working on the computer the monitor will just go blank and "no connection" will come up on the screen. The power is still on, just no output is getting to the monitor. When this happens, the only way I have figured out to solve it is to physically pull the power plug of the computer out of the wall and then turn the computer back on. Just resetting the cpu by pressing the reset button doesn't do anything.
The monitor blanking out occasionally is a pain in the ***, but is pretty rare. What has really been getting on my nerves is that everytime I shut the computer down, when I go to turn the computer back on, the monitor does not fire up...again, the " no connection" box comes up. If I unplug the cpu before I restart, however, the monitor and computer start up normally without a hitch.
My hunch is that the problem is in the video card and pulling the cpu power does something to reset it. Any one have any other ideas, I want to make sure I am not missing something else before I go spend the jack on a new video card?
BTW, I have a Viewsonic a90 monitor and an ATI Radeon video card.
