Monday Presser

Tom is starting to disappoint me, I don't like guys that make excuses.

Dear Tom, you are exactly who your record says you are, deal with it. I saw a team that is still undisciplined and making stupid mistakes on defense. I saw a team that has no leadership from the most important position on offense. Deal with it.

No excuses, no brighter side, this team is in the Big 12 and there is no reason to not dominate this league, there is no reason to not dominate Maryland.

Maryland, let me repeat it one more time. Maryland, not Notre Dame, Not Ohio State, and not Alabama, it's Maryland.

If you can't beat Maryland, you are not the right guy for this job.

I can understand his not wanting to throw any particular player under the bus but that excuse is pretty lame.

He said something to the effect that after the first quarter the team played well. I guess he (and the assembled press) missed the entire 4th quarter that featured 3 Texas turnovers and Maryland's offense marching down the field for their last TD.

Maryland won the 1st quarter and the 4th quarter, Texas won the 2nd, and it was a tie for the 3rd. It's a joke to believe Texas played well. I saw some good individual performances, Ehlinger was not one of them. Ehlinger is about as good a passer as I am. Trust me, that isn't very good.

Can he get better, of course, but not in one season, and that still doesn't address the elephant in the room. His horrible decision making late in games. I don't care what he says, this is the 3rd game he has lost on stupid turnovers because he is trying to make plays. I applaud a guy that has the sac to step up and try to carry the team, but if your ability doesn't meet with the task then you will fail.

This is as much on the coaches as it is on Ehlinger, they need to put him in position to succeed, and they are doing a piss poor job of doing this. It's obvious to everyone in the country that the way to beat Texas is get Texas behind and play prevent Defense, Sam will try to force it and turn it over. I know everyone is upset about play calling, but the fundamental issue is actually game planning. They are not prepared and it shows in close games, they don't know what to do or what to call.

Let's see if I can remember correctly how he opened the presser.....we lost because we wanted to win too much. WTF?!?!

This was the part I loved! "We lost because we were trying to be perfect". WTF? He should have said, "We lost because we were NOT perfect." Don't criticize the team for trying to be perfect. Rip them when they are not perfect!

This guy's analytical B.S. is driving me nuts! I long for Charlie Strong's blank stares.
