Mobile broadband w home wireless router?

Since moving to the sticks, we are using Verizon broadband with a USB 720 modem. Download speed is fine, up to 2.5 Mbps; upload speed is only around 300kbps, but eh, what can you do? Anyway, currently, we only use it on our laptops and only one at a time, but I would like to hook it up to our home router, so our desktop will have internet access and both laptops can be used simultaneously.

We have Linksysys wireless-N that only has ethernet inputs. Is there an adapter available to connect the USB modem to the ethernet input?

Alternatively, can I keep the USB 720 plugged in to one of the laptops and then get online on the desktop via the wireless router as follows:

Internet---->USB 720 ---->laptop ----->lynksys----->LAN----->desktop?

I haven't tried that bc I haven't set up the wireless router yet and don't want to if it's not going to work.

I have looked on EVDOforums.com but have not found this specific problem addressed.

It looks like the best thing to do is buy a router with a USB port. I don't mind doing so but would obviously rather stick w what I've got if I can make it work. If I do go with a new router, what is the best one? The forum mentions Cradlepoint and it looks like the MBR1000 would be the best for my needs. Any other recommendations?

Also, the forums mention using an external antenna to boost performance. We rarely get "dropped," but is it a good idea to get one?

Thanks
