Bills take opening kickoff on impressive opening drive. Now first and goal at about the 10. Incomplete pass--second and goal. Refs rule fumble on second down run, but it may be overturned. . . .It is--third and goal from the seven. Screen pass the one yard line. Fourth and goal. They go for it. Incomplete pass. Niners hold
 
Niners start from their own one and drive to the Bills six inch line. Now SF challenges the spot, thinking the runner scored, but, if the spot stands, it will be the same thing the Bills had at the other end--fourth and inches to score. Just like the Bills did, the 49ers go for it, and just like the Bills, it's no good!
 
Bills runner fumbles the ball on the first carry, and SF recovers inside the Bills' five. SF stuffed on first and second down. Third and goal from about the two. Finally, short TD pass on third down for Niners.
 
Bills hold 49ers and convert (barely) a fourth and one at about the five to keep it alive. Then, they score on the next play.
 
Buffalo gets the ball at its own 10 with about a minute left in the half and they drive it all the way to the SF 29 where they kick a field goal as time expires.
