MJ El Paso Sendoff

This week MJ McFarland's high school - El Paso Eldorado paid tribute to him as he graduates early and heads to Texas. Coach Chambers from Texas was on hand and he told me that he expects to add 20 pounds of muscle to MJ's 6'6" 235 pound frame. This kid can catch and he has wonderful parents. When he suits up next fall he will be the first scholarship player from El Paso to suit up in a game for Texas since Terry Steelhammer in the 1980's. I'm posting a link to the report by reporter Paul Cicala that aired on the ABC affiliate's KVIA-TV. If you enjoy MJ now, just wait until you see him leap and pull down passes with those big paws he has. He will be a star at Texas! The Link

I guess Dre Jones doesn't count because he never actually played during a regular season. Wasn't he was from El Paso.

I sure hope he can come in and play TE early on -- at least by his second year.

I've been telling folks all year that Texas' RB is at Cibolo, its playmaking WR is at Brownwood, and its TE is over in El Paso.

Sure hope MJ is a playa. I did see him snare a high pass with one hand (a true one-handed catch) in his first game down in San Antonio.

That's incorrect my friend. We had a starting cornerback from El Paso in the 90's while I was in school who went on to become a starting cornerback in the NFL for a few season.....Taje Allen. Ring a bell anyone?
